COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

Excellent blend of malt sweetness, herbal hops and fruity hops. Nice bitter aftertaste, but some alcohol.

Bottle while visiting Chicago. Pours slightly dark amber. Great half-finger foam head. Aromas are rich of sweet caramel malt, citrusy and dank resinous pine hops. Taste pushes back over into the passion and citrus fruits category. Plenty of late bittering hop flavor to balance. Really good beer.

At the Goose Island Brewing in ORD. This was an excellent DIPA. 9% was hidden well. Hop bitterness was significant but didn’t linger after the finish. Plenty of citrus and tropical fruit flavors and aroma. Overall, could be my nightcap on a regular basis.

Very nice, smooth IPA with a great bitter kick late. Not usually a fan but this could help turn me into a hop head

I was surprised how much I liked this. For a big company brew it has a lot to offer. Sweet summertime aroma that reminds of a mix of stone fruits (peaches and apricots) and the flavor has a nice mix of the same stone fruit flavors and hops. Finished a little weak but at least doesn’t have that died in your mouth aftertaste of some mass produced IPAs

Aroma of melon, citrus, malts. Very balanced aroma. Citra is there but not screaming. Appears amber gold with ample white head. Taste is citrus with good thorough bitterness. Balanced. Lightness and melon flavor apparent. Malt presence is barely enough. Very good.

On tap @ Beer Exchange. Dark orange in appearance, nice floral scent. Taste is grapefruit, fresh citrus, floral hops, juicy and bitter. Solid.

Cool to be rating a beer inspired by FLW less than a mile from his AZ campus. Amber colored pour with a white head. Fresh hops hit the tongue, some grapefruit peel, lemony notes, nice floral hop bill that lends to some grassy notes and then there is a nice backbone of malt. But the hops do steal the show.

I enjoyed it.

Lots of great smells in this one. Fresh grass and slight hits of pine. Appearance of Amber. Would drink this again and again.
