COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

Sampled while I’m pouring GI at Blarney Stone’s Brew Fest. This assaults my nose right away with the big piney catbox smell of big American hops. Then a big malty smack in the face that stands up to the extreme bitter these hops put down. Thick malty mouthfeel, and you can sense the alcohol doing its dirty work. Alternating between sipping this and BCS. Life is good.

Not good. Just big and way too sweet and boozy. Not balanced at all. Wasted $12 on a four pack. Should've known better than to trust anything from Bud.

Nicely rounded DIPA, deep amber color, initial creamy head dissipates over time. Caramel, malt and light hoppy aroma. Taste brings in more hoppiness, but still fairly malty.

Pours a nice deep coper with white head. Nose is floral and vibrant. Tast is a bit more abrasive and unbalanced than I had hoped for.

12 oz bottle pours an almost clear amber/orange color with small off-white head and some lacing. Amroma has pine resin, fruits, and caramel. Taste is sweeter than expected, with lots of caramel in the middle, but a dry bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Body is medium + with average carbonation and a slighlyy oily mouthfeel. This DIPA did not disappoint.

Tap - average size foamy head, medium copper color, big piney hop aroma and flavor, mild citrus hops also, fair malt backbone, mild alcohol notes, very good overall

Hazy orange-amber. Off-white head. Caramel, herbal, orange, bready aroma. Taste is mildly sweet, somewhat fruity, and moderately bitter. Medium body; dry. Lacing is heavy.

Medium sized tan head, good retention and lacing.Hazy, gold hued brew. Malty, piny nose, caramel. Body is full, soft carbonation, slight astringency, bit sticky. Overly sweet malts, slight danky notes, iced tead and alcohol. Overly sweet finish with notes of caramel and a lame bitterness. Not my kinda IIPA. 12ozer from statelineliquors.

12 oz bottle from BOTW, served cold in a tulip glass. Murky amber with a fair light tan head. Rich sweet fruitiness, caramel malt, a bit of resin, light citrus. Medium+ body with creamy carbonation. More resinous than the nose, quite sweet and fruity, a little peppery, caramel malt; sweet with fairly big bitterness and a long, very hoppy finish. Pretty good.

Bottle from Brook Falls Discount. No bottle date, so no idea how old. Pours golden orange with a high foamy white head leaving a lot of lace. Aroma has tropical fruit, pineapple, and sweet caramel with a bit of pepper. Later down in the glass the honey really kicks in. Taste is led by sweet caramelly malts, with pineapple, mangoes, honey, pine and some alcohol. Medium boided and sticky. Finishes nicely blended between bitter and sweet, with length, and some of the pepper showing in the late finish. Goose’s homage to Hopslam? Perhaps 80+% of that super quality brew, and overall a solid tasty offering. 14.8
