3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 phaleslu (3544) - Saint Louis, USA - NOV 9, 2010
Draft at Goose Island Wrigleyville. Labeled Wrigley White, with 5.0% ABV. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Notes of sweet and pale malts, bready Belgian yeast, wheat, honey, coriander, pepper, and lemon peel. Light-bodied, with a sticky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very basic Belgian white, and a little too sweet without getting a good wheaty character.

A basic not so incredible beer. It had some character. It was sweet with nice floral notes. Was smooth and easy to drink. Had a definite lemon/citrus quality. Missing something. Aroma wasn’t really prevalent. Had it on tap at Gino’s east. It was refreshing. Not a horrible beer but wasn’t as good as the bells winter white I had next.

Aroma of lemon juice with alcohol and some other fruit juice, murky appearance, flavor is more like a mixed drink then a beer, lemon and wheat tang,a definite alcohol squeeze, some hints of orange peel, ginger, had a refreshing character to it,despite its potency,I’d drink another if it was bought for me

Tap at RNH. Pours a a bit more clear than Mado- light golden straw with a thin white head- somewhat lasting. Aroma is yeasty, doughy wheat malts, bready- and medium spice and phenolics. Flavor has a sharp clove twang to it- phenolic yeast, light bubblegum, yeast, doughy and bready wheat malts, light tartness some lemon zest, more harsh spice as it warms- cardamon and mace-like and more herbs- medium body and ok finish.

Tap at Rattle. Very murky, Fantome-like pour. Spice, rye, clove, fig, plum, fir aroma. Perfect for winter. Dry, damp, mineral water and rye flavor, with a medium length licorice finish. Great effort.

Tap at Rattle n Hum: Hazy yellow pour with a fading white head. Bright citrusy aroma- lots of lemon grass character/ lemon rind- quite lemony overall in the nose. Has a light body with a lemony & spicy flavor- a mix of phenols (cloves and mild bubblegum) not sweet though. There’s a late white pepper and grassy spiciness. An interesting and spicy Witbier.
