Mayan spiced chocolate Barleywine aged in Evan Williams bourbon barrel.

Sampled at GABF 2012 with Andrew & Sofia. Pours a deep murky brown body with tan lacing. Aroma is super sweet chocolate, light bourbon, cocoa, spice, maple and toffee. Mouthfeel is creamy with notes of sweet chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, maple, and cocoa. A great, BA barley wine.

GABF. Probably had about five or six tastes during my two days. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a smallish brown head. Huge aroma of thick, rich chocolate along with notes of coffee, caramel, toffee, and whiskey. Flavor is more of the same with a ton of rich, tasty chocolate, mild toffee, vanilla, and light wood. Very nice stuff!

Multiple pours at GABF. Brown pour. Wow. Chocolate, cinammon, tofee, bourbon, vanilla, toasted oak, light spice from the hops. Flavor is sweet and rich. So much delicious notes both from the base beer and barrels. Vanilla rich, toffee, oak, brown sugar, snickerdoodle cookies. Yes!

Missed this rating at FoBaB 2012. Probably the favorite of the event. This pours out a dark murky brown with a thin tan head. Smells like chocolate, mole, oak, nutmeg and dark fruits. Taste is similar and quite smooth. Well balanced and enjoyable. Going to have to get this when it comes out (now).

Pour on tap at GABF, dark brownish red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big dark chocolate, chili notes, hints of bourbon and oak, slight vanilla, caramel and toffee notes hints of cookie in there as well. Taste is a nice mix of dark chocolate, roast, coffee notes into nice chili, vanilla, oak, slight bourbon notes in there, finishing fairly sweet, chocolate forward and roasted, oaky.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy amber-brown body with a medium cream head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, oak, raisins, and caramel. Flavor of chocolate, oak, toffee, brown sugar, caramel, bourbon, and vanilla.

Sampled at fobab 2011. Pours a deep brown with a small creamy light off white head. Aroma is very nice, rich chocolate notes, a small fruity character, a really complex spicy mexican chocolate note, some other sweet candied notes. Flavor is nice as well, plenty of cocoa, some more dark fruits and what I thought was an enjoyable though reserved spice character. Moderate sweet and spicy finish with a low bitterness, rich cocoa. Medium to medium full body and a soft carbonation. I enjoyed this one.

Draft at FoBAB 9. Pretty damn cool beer here. Pours a deep bronze with haze and a cap of foam. Nose is intriguing. Blend of wood, smokey pepper notes, fruity and cocoa. Really curious. Light sweet notes in the nose as well. On tasting, it is moderately sweet. Some of the pepper notes warm you up as you drink it. Cocoa and cinnamon shows up. Pretty well integrated and much earthier than expected. Really nice beer.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Cloudy dark brown color with a medium khaki head and short strings of lace. Aroma of chocolate and bourbon. Medium to full body with flavors of bourbon, cocoa and malt. The finish is chocolatey with a mildly boozy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

A popular pour at my Category 8 serving station for FOWBAB 2011, so a few tastings in between were inevitable. Dispensed to my sampler with a hazed, dark brown hue, modest, light tan ring of foam, and some light spots of lacing. The nose was mainly rich chocolate notes with a supporting cast of light spice, a hint of whisky cask wood, and a little vanilla bean. The flavor added to these some low bitterness and low carbonation in a medium+ body. A very tasty, dessert brew.
