3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (6956) - London, - FEB 12, 2013Bottle at home in London. Many thanks to Tomer for providing. Breakfast beer to kick off my trip to the USA; it’s now 5:16am. Pours a kind of muddled russet with a large, frothing tan head that fades into a short cream. Nose gives off a hefty dose of smoked caramel, toast, ripening fruits. Light sweet flavor with further smoked caramel character, some dry leaves, mellow toasty bread. It’s not as sweet as I had expected, or as sweet as I would have hoped. Light bodied with lively, explosive-in-the-mouth carbonation. Dries out slightly to finish, more leaves, light bitterness, mellow smoked malts, dry caramel. Not an altogether great beer. Quite rough around the edges.

Bottle and a rather old one. Cloudy dark brown with a big, creamy white-pink head. Dry smoke, ash and fruit aroma. Very smoky taste and a little alcoholic. Bottle’s old so all the sausageness and mustard seed that’s so typical of this beer’s gone :(
Medium body, well-carbonated, faint smoky finish. One of my all-time favourite Israeli beers.

Bottle - thanks Keren! Pours clear hazelnut with a medium beige head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is smoke. Flavor is the same, very light sweetness, minimal bitterness. Smoked character ever present but not overpowering. Quite nice actually.
