Blonde Bock
Bock beers are represented by a male goat, which in German lore symbolizes strength and virility. In accordance with the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law of 1516), bock beers must have a pre-fermentation malt sugar concentration of 16%, which converts over to at least 7% alcohol after fermentation. These strong beers were made popular in the early 1600’s by monks in order to minimize their hunger during fasting periods. While most bocks are dark, Blonde Bock is golden-colored and malty with a rich, creamy head. The rich flavor is counterbalanced with just the right level of bitterness from the Hallertau aroma hops and create a very smooth profile.

Small head for a big beer. Smooth going down, with an ever so slight fruity but nice kickback. Refreshing on a hot Puget Sound day --- great with the BBQ. Have a go at this and the old saying: "Gentlemen do prefer blondes’ will ring true!

Tap @ Gordon Biersch Taipei. Hazy yellow amber, reasonable head. Lemon yeast aroma. Black currant and malt flavour. Flowery perfumey aftertaste. Not one to get excited about.

On tap at Oakland airport. Light copper body, minimal head. Sweet malt aroma, taste follows with more sweet malt, honey. Body is fantastic, slick, slippery. Shame they serve it ice cold.

This was a good beer it had a smooth balance between hops and malts, it didn't have that pronounced hop note that I expect though ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at DTW airport. Sweet, fresh base malt with very low to no hops presence. Clear orange-gold under a thin, white collar. Flavour is sweet, cracker and bread malt with a moderate bitterness and zesty noble hops accent. Medium body, smooth, medium carbonation, slightly warming.

12oz bottle on 14-Nov-2015, poured into a long stemmed tulip glass. Hazy pale amber colour with a medium sized creamy white head which slowly dissipates. Medium body and carbonation. Aroma of cereal, yeast and sweet malt. Flavour of toasted caramel malt and hops. A pretty decent creamy bittersweet finish.

On tap at Detroit Metro airport, pours a bright, clear honey color with a tan head. The smell is toasted malt, mild fruit, caramel and bread. The taste is as it smells with a dry ending. The body is light+ with active, prickly carbonation. Just OK.

Flavor is a bit not as sweet as expected, in fact, a bit tart. However, the overall impression of this brew is good and I expect it to hold it’s own against the standard, average brew served by the major beer companies.

[2/20/15] Draught at Gordon Biersch Mission Valley in San Diego. Clear golden. Aroma of malt, slightly grainy, with honey-ish hint. Sweetish flavor with malt, bready, a bit caramelly, a bit honey-ish, with a slightly drier finish with a bitterish hint and a faint alcoholic note. Light to medium-bodied.

Tap at Gordon Biersch - ATL airport. Clear golden pour with minimal head. Bready, malty, a bit too sweet, with an odd rough edge on the finish.

Aroma of lemon, coriander, orange and hay. Appears a copper gold with a moderate foam. Taste is smooth with an odd malt funk, creamy vanilla, lemon, carbonated grain malt and coriander. Overall, not too bad. Big creamy malt overtones and a more assertive carbonation.
