COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
is a full-bodied, malty beer. It is our only lager beer served unfiltered, the way all beer was traditionally made years ago. Despite its dark color and rich caramel aroma, Dunkles is light in texture and smooth to drink.

This was one quality brew. The best Gordon Biersch I’ve had. Very dark red color with plenty of malt and hops to go around. Perhaps a little watered down, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

licorish aroma. Unfiltered and light on alcohol. Medium chewy roast flavour. Less aggressive carbonation used. Apple, lemony and lots of malt. Sour finish

Tasted on tap at San Francisco brewpub in standard pint glass. Pours an opaque brown with unflitered yeast haze and vigorous beige head, good retention, little lace. Great malty-sweetness, balanced bitterness and some aroma hop. Tastes like toffee and brown sugar. Clean, smooth and delicious. I absolutely love this stuff! A hoppy, cloudy, fruity brown lager? If this were brewed to higher gravity, it could be one of the world’s greated beers.

Re-rate: I tried this one again and was not as impressed this time around. The more quality beers I try, the more discriminating my palate becomes.

Tap in Palo Alto. Dark amber/brown. Nice malt and hop aroma. Good body. It’s smooth but also leaves a chalky and malty aftertaste.

On tap at the downtown Atlanta location. Pours a dark copper with a creamy, frothy thick white head. Aroma has hints of toffee, a smidgen of chocolate and a back end of citrus. Flavor is very pronounced with some caramel, chocolate, and a bit of citrusy hoppiness. The back end is dominated by a teriyaki-like smokiness that is interesting and enjoyable. Somewhat chewy mouthfeel. Very decent.

Draft at the brewpub Columbus, Ohio - Pours dark brown with a creamy offwhite head that stays pretty well and laces some,.. Aroma is toffee, chocolate, and a bit of brown sugar. Flavor is a nice blend of toffee, caramel, chocolate, and a touch of roasted malt. Palate is medium bodied smooth without a great deal of carbonation. Nice beer.

On tap @ Gordon Biersch Mission Valley. Pored a very dark hazy copper color. Nose is mostly of malts....some dark fruit as well. I picked up a nice hint of cherries on the tounge. A very nice Dunkle.

This is a dark brown beer with a soft white head. It has a definite organic smell--kinda grassy. The taste is also grassy with some nuts mixed in there. This is the best beer available at Gordon Biersch in my opinion, but there are definitely better brews out there."
