COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Had on tap at the brewery in San Jose. Nice golden color with a VERY NICE white head. Very light but smooth. You can taste the wheat and there's a hint of a fruit taste to it. Very good.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2004 spicy lemon zest aroma which gets stretched into the flavor and joined by baked bananas...cloudy orange...zesty...bananaish..crop circles in a wheat field..satisfying...or maybe not. second time i tried it (years later); it was too wheaty and oaty...had a touch too much cinnamon, and was not satisfying...not my style though..but the mouthfeel here seemed a little too watery from what know of decent hefes.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2006 Draft... Malt, pepper and banana in the nose. Hazy yellow color with a small, white head (fully diminishing). Flavor is lightly sweet, malty and citrusy. A touch acetic. Lively carbonation. Watery mouthfeel. Short, lightly sweet finish. Unbalanced, but enjoyable. Will have another next Summer.

A nice wheat beer. Citrusy and tangy. Nice tart flavor balanced by the fruit flavors. A good beer on a warm day.

I enjoyed one of these on draft at the Atlanta brewpub. Nice cloudy, golden color with a hoppy nose. Flavor was well balanced with a little hop kick at the end of each sip. Overall a very good summer beer.

Wheat, spice and yeast in the nose and a honey color, Unfortuanatly the lush white head dissapated rather quickly . Starts with a good foundation of malt and yeast with an udertone of apricot and vanilla, with a slight touch of alcohol.

Nice hazish sunset peach appearance, but has a heavy unripe green-banana aroma though it seems rather light bodied on the palate. Definitely suffers from lack of balance.

This beer poured out a golden color with a white head. The aroma had hops and some other elements, but nothing stood out. The taste had hops, but the body was weak and the finish just didn’t have the feel you would expect in this style.

One of the best Hefeweizens made in the states, wish they would produce this instead of their boring Marzen (gotten rather old with me).

Kicks ass. Add a slice a lemon, and one of the best.
