4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at their D.C. location. I wish that they bottled this. It is a really good example of a Hefeweizen - nice white head on top of a very hazy wheat yellow. The aroma is a very memorable banana, a little citrus/lemony hint, and some mild spiciness. The taste is a little understated and weak. The bananas provide a very slight sweetness with a little sour at the end - maybe the yeast is finally coming through. The body is medium, lively, but very thin - almost macro-brew thin. It is a shame that this brew isn’t just a little thicker.
This was a very good beer for a Saturday afternoon lunch on a hot and humid day. If you like hefe’s, then you should give this one a try for lunch. Its not an "after dinner" beer, but it would be exceptional while grilling on a hot day. If only they bottled this.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tapped out light amber. 8ºSRM.
Nose has banana and bubble gum aromas. Sweet and ester-like with the aroma of just over-ripe fruit.
Mouthfeel is carbonated. There is some pronounced carbonation which on first impression is soda-like, then opens up to the grain palate which is pale to lightly toasted malt. Full-bodied and reminiscent of a malted milkshake or malted candy. "Horlicks" for those in the know. Also has that formic acid tang that always reminds me of the acrid aroma you get when you crush red ants’ most commonly described as phenolic. You get this in the back of the throat and in the back of the tongue. No hops that you can really taste.
Finish is lager-like and beery and not entire unpleasant, especially if this well-endowed brew is sitting next to a pork knuckle.
A very very creditable Hefe. I actually liked this one...

6/6 on a flight at the Glendale location. Hazy straw colour, lingering white head. Aromas of orange, unripe banana, and smoked meat. Flavors of oatmeal with banana and nutmeg. Hints of orange, apple, and kandi. Dry finish. Well made, very good hefe.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[on tap at Gordon Biersch, DTW airport]
Spicy phenolic clove and pepper aroma with some faint banana and base malt hiding in the background. Cloudy orange-amber under a persistent off-white, lacy blanket. Flavour begins with clove, but quickly becomes clovey bubblegum and eventually is a smooth banana. Bitterness is perceptible, but only just. There is a faint, candy (like those red, homemade candy lollipops) note in the background with the base malt and moderate wheat flavour. The wheat does also provide a little acidic brightness. Medium light body, medium carbonation, begins smooth and ends crisp.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Atlanta brewpub. Not a favored style.
Look: hazy golden body with an off-white head.
Aroma: very fruity with a lot of citrus, some banana and a hint of yeast.
Flavor: follows the aroma. More citrus and less clove than average for style.
Mouthfeel: light-medium body and medium+ carbonation.
Overall: fruity hefe.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Gordon Biersch on Peachtree in Midtown Atlanta. Good crisp and clean but unremarkable hefeweizen. A bit highly carbonated. Good wheat flavors coming through with a touch of clove. Adequately sweet without being cloying.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at goodwood. Pours a cloudy yellow with minimal white head. Traditional hefe aroma of wheat spice banana and clove. Mild malt as well. The flavor is more of the same mic spiced wheat flavor with banana and it’s very smooth mildly bitter. Made very well.
