Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Letís hear it for airport beers. There are certainly many worse out there. This hefe was a bit on the darker golden side for the style, and a bit maltier than many. Felt heavy instead of refreshing. Some banana and clove, but a bit of a sharp wheat and slight pepper vibe. Not bad, but I liked the pilsner much better.

On tap at Gordon Biersch on Peachtree in Midtown Atlanta. Good crisp and clean but unremarkable hefeweizen. A bit highly carbonated. Good wheat flavors coming through with a touch of clove. Adequately sweet without being cloying.

Draft at goodwood. Pours a cloudy yellow with minimal white head. Traditional hefe aroma of wheat spice banana and clove. Mild malt as well. The flavor is more of the same mic spiced wheat flavor with banana and itís very smooth mildly bitter. Made very well.

This isnít spot on but itís pretty good. Itís cloudy, muddy orange in color w/ a head of mixed bubbles. It has a clovey aromatic quality and some banana comes out when you taste it. Itís a little bit sweet, sticky and heavy w/ mild carbonation for the style. If they fixed the texture, this would be spot on but this comes off as a bit unfinished as it is--though it does have a pretty nice flavor profile.

.5 liter pour at Gordon Biersch Park Lane. Poured a hazy golden color with a thin white top and a little lacing. Amazing taste of banana, clove and the distinctive wheat character. Medium carbonation, medium body. Cheers!

Tap, Seattle. Pours a cloudy yellow orange body with a fizzy white head that faded to a thin wispy covering. The nose is pretty nice, clove, banana, a little banana bread, nice yeast esters. Just a light touch of bubble gum. The flavor is decent as well, plenty of esters of banana and bubble gum, enough yeastiness, not overly sweet. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft gentle carbonation and a lingering finish. Decent Hefe, not a standout, but no flaws.
