Excellent coppery amber appearance with a moderately foamy head. Smells of syrupy malt, slightly skunky. A relatively neutral taste, some watery malt and barley. Not bad. Fairly bitter mouthfeel, but smooth. It’s decent.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A very sweet aroma of caramel, toffee, and red pop. Appears clear copper, lots of bubbles, a thin ring of wjite foam. Flavor is very light of sweet whole grain cereal, practically a bowl of frosted mini wheats. Palate was ordinary. Overall, ok.

Bottle. Darkish amber. Little bubbly. Caramel nose. Bright bit of malt followed by toffee and caramel. Not as dark or charred as I’m used to for a marzen.

On tap at Gordon Biersch, Buffalo, NY. Golden amber with a cream head; malty aroma; sweet fruity caramel malt taste; and a malty finish. Pleasant, but nothing more.

12 oz bottles Gordon Biersh San Jose CA.
The older G.B Marzen had a brown and white label with a man examining a
poured glass on the label. The newest Label has a Red G and black B with RED and Black Labeling.
Nice sweet roasted dark malts with none of the cheaper pine and citrus additive/flavored hops thrown into so many major named breweries products these days.
G.B Brewery San Jose has done a great job replicating the classic
Marzen however is not using the strong sweet dark malts to cover any flavor changes.
Nice to a old favorite taste pretty much the same as old.
Auburn colored pour with immediate caramelized malt flavors.
Sweet but with just enough hops to balance as not to be to sweet for the style.
Probably not going to able to go head to head against A Paulaner Oktoberfest or Munich based brewery dark, however at less than 1/2 the price of other top choices a very respectful example that be enjoyed without draining ones wallet.

Delicious! You smell the caramel from the start, and it continues through your palate. It sits on the back of your tongue, and it's very pleasurable. I would drink a few of these in a sitting, but not more than a handful, with the sweetness level.

Poured in to a dimpled glass. leaves an off white 1 finger head that dissipates quickly. Beer is a clear nut brown color with medium carbonation Aroma is a malty caramel with a roasty nut. hints of tar are present. Flavor is a metallic nutty stone. very light if any hops and bitterness on the back. It’s an alright beer that you can share with people but there is better session ales out there

Yeesh. So this is what we’ve come to. The basic McDonalds cheeseburger of beers. No glory here. Orange, astringent and along the road towards undrinkable. Tap at DC brewpub.
