1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 seymour (608) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 21, 2011
From old tasting notebook. On tap at San Francisco brewpub, part of the sampler. Clear, light golden color with some chill haze and fluffy white head, little lace. Aroma of grain, grass, very faint hops and peppery yeast phenols. Flavor is fairly true-to-style for pilsner as well, though thinner and less complex than classic German examples. Better by far than most macro adjunct lagers, but a pretty weak beer overall.

At the Bollingbrook, Il location, 2of6 samples. Another shitty one. Similar to the Export they have, a bit more carbonated. SUCKS just as well.

Why did I pay $8 for this in the San Fran airport? Pours golden yellow with thin head. Mild malty aroma. Fairly awful cornish flavour. Boring and derivative.

This beer taps me on the shouder for being a authentic pils. Aroma is not very impressive, but the style usually doesn’t usually do that. Looks pretty good in the glass, high carbonation. Smooth with a good touch of hops, but it is a little lower on the bitterness. Overall it is done very well, I just think they toned down on the hops to make it more appealing to the general public.

Serving: Draft.
Appearance: Deep gold color with a frothy white head.
Aroma: Light malt and floral notes.
Flavor: Crisp and clean but a little heavy with the malt. Good dose of malt sweetness paired with grassy, spicy hops.
Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a light mouthfeel and a medium-short finish.
Overall: I think this one is a bit underrated. This is one of the more solid examples of a pilsner I’ve had lately.
