(draught) medium clear brown with decent tan bubbles around the edges. Nose of lightly sweet brown sugar, mild watery coffee, touch of smoke, and some cereal grains. Taste of cereal grain, watery coffee, a touch of smoke, and light brown sugar. Hate to repeat the Mose but it tasted exactly like i expected after smelling it. Light body and lots of flavor for the style.

(Old BA rate - tap at Atlanta location) Poured with a thin mostly white head. Really deep dark brown coloring with light brown highlights. Good curtain-like lacing. Aroma: Light maltiness; some roasted aromas; touch of raisin; good but kinda muted overall on this front. Flavors are more vibrant than the aroma suggests. Rich, roasted maltiness with dark fruit sweetness. Nearing on medium for the MF, nice breath of effervescent carbonation. This would be a great session brew.

Its dark brown color is definitely more appealing than their other selections. It has a mild coffee taste. Good after taste.

On tap at the KC brewery. It pours dark brown with a 2 inch tan head. Smells of coffee and bread. It is a medium body with less flavor than most. It is fairly thin, but has a long lasting finish making up for the thin body. Overall it’s just average.

This beer pours black with a large tan head that dissipates quickly. the aroma is light coffee and chocolate. The palate is q little dry and roasty. Not a bad beer, fits the style. Cheers!

On tap at the San Francisco location of GB. Pours a deep mahogany/copper color with medium white head. A sweet nutty aroma. A lightly roasted flavor, nutty, earthy grainy feel. Nice.

Draught at the Palo Alto brewpub. Dark brown with a tan head. Toasted bread and light chocolate in the aroma. The flavor is pretty dry and drinkable overall, but with some caramel sweetness up front. Toasty grain and chocolate malt flavors with a light background roast. Hops are mild but provide a good, clean balancing bitterness. Clean fermentation character. Medium-light body but with a rich, smooth mouthfeel. Clean and well balanced overall, and showing a pretty German sense of restraint compared to other local black lagers that end up more like bottom-fermented stouts.

On tap at the brewpub in Bollingbrook, sample 6of6. Dark, dark copper appearance, almost black. Light chocolatey aroma, very inviting. Light bodied slightly dry taste of roasted chocolate. Very smooth.

On tap at Gordons in Columbus. The body is a little wattery. The taste is roasty, coffee, with a hint of smoke and a light bitter aftertaste. The taste is a little heavy for a schwarzbier (not much of a session beer) maybe a little closer to a porter.
