I don’t usually go for the black beers but I liked this one. I thought the head retention was adequate and the maltiness of the aroma was enticing. The body isn’t too heavy. The palate is very creamy and pleasantly bitter.

Tap. Pours murky dark brown with thin, fizzy beige head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is faint with light roast and caramel malts, earthy hops, figs, and light coffee. Flavor is roast malt forward with some supporting hops and dark fruit esters; dry finish with a hint of roasted coffee. Light body and low carbonation.

On tap at the Kansas City Gordon Biersch. Pours a deep brown color with white head. Coffee, roasty flavors. Light body. Would be a nice schwarzbier, though it is somewhat light.

On tap. Aroma is of a light beer. The appearance is dark with a tan head. The taste is of dry, dark malt. Dry through out. This beer is light on the palate, but leaves a lasting taste that is of cheap light beer. Overall, a decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My first time with the style and I liked this one. Kind of a light porter with roasty chocolate smell and taste. Finishes well. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
