3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Palo Alto. Pours a brownish amber with golden notes and a medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, light roast, sweet malty notes. Flavor if the same. A decent yet sweet version if the style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Quite roasty aroma. This definitely is the most complex of the beers I’ve had from these guys. Roasty and a bit heavier; not amazing but good. Still light enough to have a few.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster at the Atlanta brewpub. Looks solid; a transparent brown with foamy off-white head. Smells malty with notes of dough and lager yeast. Tastes like it smells, only better, with a solid mouthfeel. A decent example of the style.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had more than a few pints of this at a recent dinner at the DC location. Looks like a stout, opaque black, soft white head. Aroma of toast, nuts, some dark fruits. Flavor was malty, nutty, toast, breads. Crisp, clean finish. Good session beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The aroma has caramel, and some nuttiness. The appearance is medium brown like a brown ale. The flavor is sweet and quite tasty with plenty of caramel. The palate is thin but smooth. A good tasting beer but not a typical Schwarzbier.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Virginia Beach location. Absolutely my most favorite from my visit. Dark brown color. Aroma is that of caramel, and roasted nuts. Flavor is full of caramel, and has hints of chocolate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Medium dark, mostly clear brown. Non-aggressive aroma. Coldwater, slightly sweet, lightly bitter with a medium-light body. Spritzy. Nothing special. Gordon Biersch Brewpub, Kansas City.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This poured a very dark brown almost black color with a small eggshell head. Aroma was slightly roasted but pretty bland. Flavor was pretty watery, slightly roasted and sweet.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
On draft at the Miami location. Clear medium brown with semi reddish highlights and thin ring of off white head. Nose is attempting for roasty but just comes off as plastic and sickly sweet with horrible nail polish. The flavor is just as bad, like licking a dog turd. Can’t really even describe how bad this is. There is a roasty finish though...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Caramel aroma; bready, biscuity, with some hops permeating the finish with interesting dimensions. Standard brewpub palate, cold and moderately aggressive carbonation. This might be the best of the bunch I had here but that doesn’t mean it would stand up to outside competition. (on tap at downtown Washington, D.C. location)
