3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the DC location: Pours a clear pale golden with a spotty-lacing froth of white head. Has a lightly sweet pale malty nose with a touch of light fruity esters and noble hops. Starts with average fullness and a soft malty sweetness with some clean bitterness and a hint of light fruitiness before a smooth crisp finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Grassy with a bit of hops. Lots of water makes this beer especially easy to drink. Light on everything from the flavor to the alcohol.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap. Clear light lemon-yellow with a minimal white head. Not much going on in the aroma, other than a light grassy hop note and some grain and husk. Taste is pretty clean, but rather bland, with some cereal, minerals, and that’s about it. Light body with fizzy carbonation. Nothing off, just very, very boring.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Plainfield MWBF. Pours a mostly clear pale gold with a nice white head. The nose is lightly sweet with a noble hop kick. Herbal and grainy at the same time. On taste, it is quite refreshing. Clean fermentation and light body with more pils character. Light hop finish. I could drink a ton of this.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a tap into a pilsner? glass. Color was dark gold. Had an inch and a half of foam that remained there for awhile. Smell was a slight hint of honey but not a strong odor elsewhere. Very carbonated. Lots of flavors, but honey stood out. Golden honey would be a better way to describe it. Good summmer beer and was refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at the pacific place. Pours a slightly hazy pale gold with a loose fizzy white head. Stringy, drippy lace. Tangy phenolic nose, like maybe cloves that got wet or something. Would have thought they were aiming for a wit. Fizzy light body. Herbs, grass, and tangy clove on the mid palate. Mild spicy phenol finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brilliantly clear, full gold color that is topped by a frothy, thin, quarter finger thick, off-white colored head. The beer has quite a fruity smell to it up front and sort of reminds me of a floral pear. There is a a noticeable, though light, herbal character here in the nose too that lightly accentuates the up front fruitiness. Honey like malt notes meld well with the fruitiness and towards the middle and finish there is more of a cracker like malt character that has a hint of biscuit like softness to it at times.
The beer has quite a carbonic bite to it which serves as a nice foil to a solid fruitiness found in the middle of this beer. The fruit accentuates a honey like malt sweetness, which in turn is off-set by a firm bitterness that lingers on the palate in the finish with a fair amount of bite to it. There is a nice hop flavor to this beer that is at times a touch lemon like, but is really more herbal than anything; the herbal notes are nothing too distinct, but hint at a touch of pine, perhaps a touch of menthol and maybe something sort of like lemon thyme.
Not a bad Kolsch, it perhaps is a little more fruity than I had expected, but not so much that it keeps this from being out of style for me. Certainly at the very least a beer I am happy to be sipping upon as I while away a few hours in the airport.
