2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught@Kulminator, Antwerp, labelled as Platinum Barley Wine.
Tiny mostely lasting near-white head. Body is crystal clear, deep golden. Strange aroma of dry metallic apple cider and sweetish malts. Alcohol is noticeable both in aroma and flavor. Taste is acidic-sweet fruits, caramellish malts and a earthy bittering hops. Mid-bodied. Chewy texture. Sweet, lightly spiced finish. An oddball, reminds me of a superstrong Eurolager.

1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
75 cl. Magnum bottle. Really a beautifull bottle. Aroma has sweet caramel, raisin and bad hops. Clear, amber coloured beer with a cheap lookin head. The taste is very sweet, siruppy, caramel, some raisin. All in bad quality. An ugly wolf in pretty sheep wool. A Trabant engine inside an Ashton Martin. A Mcdonald’s burger in a 5 star restaurant. A Shania Twain cd inside a Rachmaninov package. And offcourse this list can be as endless as there are particles in the universe. Extra minus points for the contrast.

25cl can, pours clear yellow with a thin white head. Smells sweet with some lemon and sugar cane notes topped off with some hop aromas. Flavors are very sweet with a big alcohol burn. This is unbelievably sweet, too much.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Canned 50 cl. A fully golden beer. Nice white head. Decent lacing. Fruity malty alcoholic nose. Very strong. Slightly pleasant. Hints of marmite. Metallic taste. Malty. Too much alcohol in this one. Some faint hop character. For a malt liquor it’s rather good, but for a belgian strong ale, its poor. Way better than any Amsterdam malt liquor.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Thanks Beastie. I love the can. Malt Liquor Belgian style. Poured a clear gold yellow color with a small white head. The aroma was sweet and grainy with alcohol in the nose. Fairly sweet flavor. The finish was bitter and peppery from alcohol.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
50 cl. can. Medium gold color with a frothy white head. Mostly corny aroma, but there seems to be underlying light stone fruit as well. Medium body with creamy carbonation. It’s all about the alcohol. It burns. The flavors, if any, are rather dissolved in it. Resembles high gravity American lagers, but definitely not so sickening. Drunk for little money. Who needs flavor for that?

Golden. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, fruity). Flavor heavy sweet. Full body, heavy alcohol.
