Canned. At the aroma was strong pear and apple but this disappeared. Just to come back when the beer was warming up. Yellow color, small off-white dimnisching head, no lace. Apple juice with loads of alcohol. That’s the only way to discribe it. Not ever really bad flavors but not like a beer at all. Very sweet and bitter from the alcohol. Sticky and burning in my throat. Who really drinks this stuff?

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2012
Bought in Brussels from some night store (along with some others I didn’t have in my hotel room, thank goodness). Best by mid Dec 2007, drank mid Dec 2006. This 50cl can was poured into two Thistle glasses, both halves look good, pale gold with a thin wispy, white head. Aroma of lemons and other citrus type fruits, slight bleach smell also. The alcohol takes over completely, but before it does their is a hoppy flavour that is also very pronounced. This is not an English Pale Ale, I don’t know what it is either, but if you like your beers strong and getting waisted swiftly, this is your babe. It is like a good lager with an idiot dropping a double vodka in when you are not looking!

500 ml can. From finestshop.be.
Clear pale golden colour with small white head. Malt, alcohol, almond and play-doh in aroma. Very boozy flavour with alcohol, almond and sugary sweetness. This XXXtra strong beer is XXXtra bad. Who is this for? One of the worst Belgian beers ever.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. (old rating) Dark yellow / golden color, off-white head. Decent smell and taste, mostly fruits, sweet and alcohol. Could have been worse.

8/05/2011 25cl can @ home - BB: 5/9/2010 (2011-196) Thanks to Peter for the can!

Note: you might consider the rating not to be fair, because the beer was past it’s best before date. But here’s the thing: beer preserves better in can, plus: Gordon puts a very early BB date on their cans so they would be consumed faster.

Clear orange beer with some beige particles floating around. Aery white head, big bubbles, dissipates fast. Aroma: sweet malts, honey, candi sugar. MF: ok carbon, medium body and alcohol numbing my whole mouth. Taste: it doesn’t taste like anything but alcohol? Hard to tell! A bit fruity, some citric hops. Aftertaste: just a little bitter, but mainly alcohol the whole effin’ time. Down the drain it goes, life’s too short to drink bad beer.

Bierkrug (1666) - Idar-Oberstein (In East Africa), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - MAY 9, 2011
500 ml can picked up on the road in Begium and had at home in Germany. Pours a clear gold with a thin quick to run off white head. Aroma is alcohol. clean fresh clothes and some fruit. Taste is just like one of those Danish Malt Liqoures. Palate is offensive and full of alcohol.

cannette 50cl, Belgian malt liquor?

Sweet alcohol aroma. Orange-gold in color with no head. Sweet but with a strong alcohol prescence.

suprchunk (1064) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - APR 4, 2011
Beautiful huge creamy white head atop a golden bed of nectar. That’s where the good stuff ends. Smells like a funky pils, with a bunch of alcohol thrown in. Tastes of alcohol and sweet sugar. Lots of alcohol heat and a sweetness left behind each swallow. Not a very good beer. Not overly horrible, but definitely not a good one.

Pinball (8607) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 4, 2011
bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard clear dark yellow, very small smooth white head aroma is primarily alcohol, secondarily malts and musk. flavor is spritty, faint malts, faint earthy herbal note. The alcohol is front and center, the other notes just sort of putting a small base for the alc. to reside on. This is like flavored vodka. Bad, bad. belgian beer. Tastes sort of like the local discount superstrong beers.
