On tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa in Trastevere, Rome. Smells high in alcohol; almost vinous. Dark gold body with some carbonation. Thin white to slightly off white head. Some lace. Higher alcohol flavor. Smooth and strong. Somewhat sweet. Pretty good overall. Doesn’t taste like 12%. A nice understated sipper that gets you where you want to go quickly. Strong.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. (old rating) Dark yellow / golden color, off-white head. Decent smell and taste, mostly fruits, sweet and alcohol. Could have been worse.

A Mes rate: Draught at the Kulminator. Clearly a damn sight better from Dirk’s superbly kept Kulminator taps than out of a can. Appearance is misleading; chunky head and heavy lace give it away a little but otherwise it looks like a darkish blonde beer. Nutty and slightly off smelling. Nicely thick and full bodied. Rather perfumey but not as much alcohol is apparent as I would have expected. That said it gives you a great warmth on the way down.

22nd February 2008. Sweet aromatic malt with a sour note - much like the Gold - but this is more intense and with a subtle brandt note.

750 ml corked bottle. Deep golden-amber color, poor head that doesn’t hold and no lace. Smell of fruits, candy, glazed fruits, marzipan, but rather artificial. Body is lighter than it should, flavor of fruits, spices, pepper, but again rather artificial. A wannabe champagned like beer, though not absolutely bad, in fact i wouln’t mind to have another for some other day.

Tasted it first in can, I had it also in bottle and now i tasted it from draft. The draft version is specialy made for the italian market but the Culminator in Antwerp has it from draft. A very strong beer where the alcohol is overwhelming. Gordon has better beers with lower alcohol

Pale yellow of color with a weak off white head. An aroma of cucumber, fresh notes, hints of sweets and apples. A flavor of sweets, spice and dry finish.

Dorqui (2081) - Brescia, ITALY - MAR 20, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2005 Canned. XXXtra Strong. On the can there’ s written "Drink whit moderation". Bought in a China & African market in Brescia. Dense and compact foam, but not much long-lasting one. Orange clearly color, not veiled and without many beads. Not veiled and enough firm. Determined and strong scent. Determined notes of alcohol and yellow apple. Sour and lightly pungent. Wrapping and full bodied taste. Much warmth and fort. Dense but excessive strongly, indeed too much canted. The scents are pleasant but the taste is excessive powerful.
