Gordon Scotch Ale was born in the limpid highlands among isolated lochs and haunting Scottish castles. This brown beer, reminiscent of a dark ruby, is full of contrast - both strong and smooth. Its creamy head is delectation for the palate. This unique nectar can also be discovered under the name of Douglas Scotch Ale. Has been renamed ’Finest Scotch’ in 2006.
Note: ABV at some point from 8.6% to 8%.

33cl bottle at bar Bistro Baziel, Ghent. This scotch ale is a traditional Belgian brew. Dark red or brown ale with brownish beige, pearly head. Medium to strong carbonation too. This heavy ale definitely is full flavoured with clear notes of port wine, caramel, maybe some toffee, vanilla, sugar, and a mouth of chocolate, iron, malt, sugar and roast. A bit sticky, sweet, overtaking the beer’s bitterness.

Calorcito alcoholico final.

Bottle in Brugges. This one was consumed while thinking of Michael Jackson ordering a Scotch in the Belgian installment of ’The Beer Hunter’. I remember him saying that it was actually brewed in Scotland. That struck me as incredibly unlikely but 1989 was before my time beerwise. Either ways, this wasn’t really what I was looking for. Sweet in an unpleasant kind of way. Not like a typical Scotch ale. Fizzy, oversweet and generally a bit too much for me.

L: -pours a clear dark brown with ruby tinges and a small, quickly dissipating beige head S: -caramel,toffee,vinous tartness, cherries T: -corn,ridiculous amounts of sugar, caramel, toffee, underlying tartness with a toasty finish F: -medium body,low-medium carbonation O: Ridiculously sweet Beer, possibly to hide the tartness. Don’t know how close this comes to a proper scotch ale, since this was my first
