COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gordon Scotch Ale was born in the limpid highlands among isolated lochs and haunting Scottish castles. This brown beer, reminiscent of a dark ruby, is full of contrast - both strong and smooth. Its creamy head is delectation for the palate. This unique nectar can also be discovered under the name of Douglas Scotch Ale. Has been renamed ’Finest Scotch’ in 2006.
Note: ABV at some point from 8.6% to 8%.

Brownish colour and a little muddy to look at, with a fairly low tan head. Aroma is generally malty; certainly lacks and of the refined toffee or peaty notes of a true scotch ale. The flavour is richly malty with some warmth from alcohol; well balanced and pleasant but once again a purist would say not a scotch ale. Enjoyable drink that stands well amongst a list of typical Begian beers (some of these "scotch ales" are appearing in Belgian pubs)

330ml bottle (Wines of Galillee, Tallinn) - shared by Marduk - thanks!
Rich bready aroma, heavily malty, some mammi, and quite savoury. Nice roast aspects to the taste, some odd metallic notes. Quite a thin palate for a 7.9% beer, but it is still full, just not heavy. Some odd tomato aspects, a bit of sludgy rusty iron too. Not a horror, but also far from being something I’d seek out. Finish is metallic, more copper than iron this time. Late finish dis have an almost peppery hop. Less enjoyable aspects trump any positives. Looked OK, a nice deep copper colour. 2.6 is a slight overrate, but I’m not so keen on bringing any one score down.

0,33L bottle (from Wine of Galilee), BB 13.02.16, ABV 7.9%. Pours dark brown-ruby with light brown head. The small head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, caramel, fruits, some gooseberries. Flavor is sweet, caramel, malt, metallic notes, dark fruits. Finish has some dry bitterness. Overall: ok I guess.

ASPETTO: ambrato scuro, limpido, come whisky. Schiuma abbondante, fine e persistente.

Deep reddish-brown beer, small tan head. Fruity-metallic nose with malt and caramel. Flavor is toasty notes, caramel, mild vanilla, malt. Finishes with mild hoppy bitterness and malty caramel sweetness. On the sweet side, but the balance is fair.

Bottle as "Mc Douglas Scotch Ale"; 7,9%. Copper body, small head. Aroma has sweet toffee with hints of fruity yeast and molasses. Sweet malty taste with molasses, black tea and very light hints of scotch. Low bitterness. On the sweet side. Not very complex, more smokiness would balance the sweetness.
