COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gordon Scotch Ale was born in the limpid highlands among isolated lochs and haunting Scottish castles. This brown beer, reminiscent of a dark ruby, is full of contrast - both strong and smooth. Its creamy head is delectation for the palate. This unique nectar can also be discovered under the name of Douglas Scotch Ale. Has been renamed ’Finest Scotch’ in 2006.
Note: ABV at some point from 8.6% to 8%.

Brownish colour and a little muddy to look at, with a fairly low tan head. Aroma is generally malty; certainly lacks and of the refined toffee or peaty notes of a true scotch ale. The flavour is richly malty with some warmth from alcohol; well balanced and pleasant but once again a purist would say not a scotch ale. Enjoyable drink that stands well amongst a list of typical Begian beers (some of these "scotch ales" are appearing in Belgian pubs)

Pours a gorgeous mahogany with a creamy off white head. Malt aroma. Bitter taste with a bit of bite.

Popular Scotch and one of the last still marketed that way, including the stereotypical thistle glass. Dark chestnut colour, stable beige head; sweet malty character, caramel, bit chocolatey, candied fruits, rather thin mouthfeel, somewhat metallic, thin finish with roasted bitterness. A very different beer from their Gordon Finest range but that doesn’t mean it is a good beer.

Bottle from a friend, many thanks Daniel. Cola brown color with small off-white head. Roasted malt, caramel, red fruits in aroma. Sweet dark malty taste with caramel, nuts, honey, licorice, alcohol. Not very impressive.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark ruby red to brown colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Malty aroma combines with fruity notes of red berries, a dry touch of fruit parings, hints of cherry and plum. Taste is moderately sweet malty, a touch of sweet milk chocolate, hints of red fruit, cherry, red berries and the like, a dry touch of fruit parings. As this is one of the first non-German beers I’ve ever had and accordingly several times under various circumstances, it brings back a number of memories (art nouveau Brussels with partially fractured Villeroy & Boch pissoirs and the saddest man I ever saw [at the same restaurant in Brussels], eating up a portion of spaghetti and sporting a sorrowful physiognomy while trying to chill those spaghetti with is exhalations, as if he directly had made his way from burying his only companion in the whole wide world, without any doubt a spoilt, scraggy, whiffy Bichon Frisé; cheese cubes in a glass, a ten bottle-pack selection of international beers shared with Diehli). And yes, I remember less fruit and more chocolate, but "times they are a-changing".

500 ml can. Pours a deep reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel toffee, chocolate, raisin. Sweet taste with a bittersweet finish. Decent ale.
