Created in the thirties, Gordon Xmas initiated the tradition of Christmas brews.

Like the Gordon scotch it’s a nice brown ale toasty, caramel, sweet sticky brew. Similar but for whatever reason I like it a bit more.

Bottle from Cornelius (with good discount after xmas). Pours dark reddish brown. Nose is prunes, dried fruits, brown sugar, caramel. Taste is spicy, wood, booze, sweet dark fruits, raisins, plums. Had lots of Belgian xmas beers at holidays and this would have been one of the weakest ones. Unbalanced and boozy.

Dark brown beer with a small beige head. Smell of red fruit and sugared creamy coffee. Caramel, red fruit, spices, candi sugar, latte. Looking finish with a bit more bitterness and white sugar. Well balanced

33 cl bottle at home. Pours clear chestnut brown with medium beige head. Aroma: coffee, caramel, red fruits. Taste: high sweetness with low to medium bitterness. Notes of roasted malts and caramel. Texture is oily. Carbonation is flat.

75 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Tiel. Dark brown with a tan head. Malty aroma with raisins and plums. Very sweet with also a vinous touch to it. Nice spicy finish. Great winter warmer.

There is enough spice in this to cut through the normal sweet malt scotch ale flavour . Great sipping by the fire.

The beer has a nice look. The beer has a beautiful deep dark red color. The beer is quite clear. The beer pours a decent amount of a little bit rough almond colored foam. The bulk of the foam collapses and a little drape of foam remains on top of the beer. The smell is nice but a little bit mild. The beer has a nice alcohol aroma. I also clearly smell some roasted barley. There is also a nice fruity aroma, grapes and cherries. The taste also has a nice fruity sweetness in the front of the mouth, reminding me of fruits like grapes and cherry. Later a alcohol flavor kicks in. The finish is long and strong and contains mainly a bitter roast taste. The way the flavors follow each other is very nice. The flavors keep building from soft sweet to strong bitter. Very well done.

Dit kerstbier heeft een kastanjehouten kleur. Het weinige schuim trekt wat weg. De smaak is bitter-zoet. Bitter van koffie, zoet van kandij. Ook wat citrusschillen en specerijen te herkennen. Lekker rondom de feestdagen.
