This is Belgian? Ah Scottish & Newcastle. That explains it. Not my thing really. Dark red tinted brown with a pale cream head. Malty, cardboard and metal, thinners, alcohol very present. Sweet and sugary. Berry type fruit, spices, bit cloying and nasty mouthfeel. I needed a strong drink at 5.00am, this fitted the bill and it was just for necking and thank Eric it was. Average at best.

very beautiful clear red with a thick solid light brown head. must be filtered, but i must admit it looks super nice. mild fruity sawdusty hoppy aroma, red berries seem to dominate. flavor is red berries, cherry, wood? (is it aged??), caramel, malt, very faint "american" style hops like flavor (not sure what it is), also lots of sweetness and dark fruits. faint spices, alc sensed as a spice, strange metallic tinge to the flavor that i don’t like, but overall tasty and intersting.

A deep dark clear brown ale with a thick receeding moka head. In aroma, a good caramel and molasses, with treacle notes. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt, buttery, toffee, sweet and cloying. Medium bodied. Tasted Nov. 2008. Bieropholie import.

The beer has a brown color with a thin offwhite head. Nice aroma of spices, chocolate and malt. Good flavor of chocolate, malt and spices. The body is light with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation.

Bottle green, 750 ml
Appearance: Pours dark rubby brown body, very beautiful, livley and essential body colour, body texture is perfectly clear, carbonation of the body is livley, head is typical for the English Ale, creamy, off - white, beige, cappuccino like, quite nice lacing, initially head is small but firm ald long lasting.
Aroma: Very nice, characteristic aroma of English earthy hops - Challanger or Golding hops, raisin, resin, Crystalized Englis pale malt, note of butterscotch, some toasty malt accents, alcohol is perfectly hidden as for such a high amount of 8.8% abv, spicyness, coocoo candy, very pleasant and inviting, well balanced and quite strong.
Flavour: Generally strong alcoholic background what is positive as for the later flavour impression. Quite heavy gravity ale, front apart from being alcoholic is very sweet, a bit too sweet for me but apart from that it becomes very spicy especially later on and bitter, very clean aftertaste leaving floral hoppyness in nose, profound notes of resin, raisin, butterscotch, crystalized malt, toasty malt, robust, some notes of roastyness, nice bitter, hoppy aftertaste is totally nothing with too heavy, sticky sweetness on palate, finish duration is medium, dark chockolate, cacao, spearmint.
Palate: Body is full, texture is sticky, sweet, carbonation on palate is medium, finish feel is moderately alcoholic with still perfectly hidden alcohol even if the beer is warmer, spicy, clean.
