A brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma of roasted malts with coffee. The taste of bitter coffee with some fruits.

Possibly 2010 Vintage // at the very list // this has been on the draft list for a very long at the Kulminator and for all I know it might be the same keg they have been pouring all of this time // 33 cl. draft into one of those Gordon thistle glasses // amber, dark caramel, touch ruby, completely clear, doesn’t look like that when the glass is completely full but it is very clear, solid one finger, creamy, milky head on top // smells of quite a bit of varnish, vintage malts, Gordon “alternative” malts, dark caramel, heavy winter spices blended with liquorish // taste is varnish, anis, sherry & dash furniture, Gordon “alternative” malts, dash vintage, winter cake, liquorish & winter spices, dash fruitiness // body is dry, synthetically slick, non thick, whatever those malts are dominate this // not a bad, interesting beer from Gordon, containing elements of their king of hobo wines beers but actually working into something halfway good

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown with reddish edges. It taste mainly caramel, toffee and few hints of roasted malt. Its taste equals its aroma, probably a bit reduced. Good balanced. Hops in evidence but not agressive. I recommend it.

Aroma: fruity, almost like strawberry and/or cherry jam, spicy (probably contains cinnamon). Also a hint of caramel.
Mouthfeel: big and foamy.
Taste: Strong, sour and sweet. I could notice a nutty tone, like hazelnuts and such. Turns to bitter as it goes down.
Finish: Ends with a firm bitter note.
Overall: not a refreshing beer. It’s a warming, very flavoursome drink though. Very satisfying.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
schmeckt herb-bitter-alkoholisch dazu zuckrig-bitter.

Had this on-tap in 2011, still a good Xmas special! The review is however is from an earlier bottle in 2006.
Poured from a 33cl brown bottle with a huge life left (20th Sept 2008) I may kep one for a while, as I got a four-pack. Anyway, it was poured into the correct Gordons Thistle Glass, one of two I bought some years ago.
It looked a picture, the dark body in the base of the glass and the slightly off-white head filling the neck of the glass.
The aroma is one of dark complexed secrets, mostly winter spices, such as cinnamon and cloves, sat on burnt brown breaded toast.
The taste explodes in your mouth, a sweet caramel effect, almost burnt, but not really burnt, lighty toasted is a better way of saying it.
The taste does linger, getting more malty and drier as the throat adjusts.
I very easy to drink 8.8% Christmas beer, highly recommended by me.

33cl bottle. Poured dark brown with a frothy white head. Aroma has melted butter, caramel and spices. Flavor has anise, sweet caramel and xmas spices. Sweet, alcohol well hidden. Xmas flavor, but the aroma was not very tempting.
