3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice beer with an intens dark brown color and a creamy beige froth. Good aroma’s of nuts, dark malts, licorice, butter-cakes, ahorn sirup and dried fruits like apricots and dates. Good malty attack in the taste with mild hints of Sirop de Liège, nuts, burned malts, cedar-wood and a good bitterness of roasted malts. The afthertaste is mild and medium sweet with a good malty touch in the middle pallet and with a nice burned bitterness in the end.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another bottle I brought back from my October trip to Belgium.
It’s dark brown in the glass with auburn highlights and topped by a frothy tan head. A malty nose, sweet spices and a faint smokiness.
Rich, raisiny fruitiness blended in with sweet spices, clove and cinnamon perhaps. More dark fruit lurking below and an understated earthy smokiness or toastiness in the body. There’s a faint metallic quality in the finish and the fruitiness leaves a stickiness in the mouth. The earthy roastiness lingers in the aftertaste.
It’s 8.8% ABV but you’d never know it. Very smooth and complex at the same time. Nice ale.

330ml bottle poured into a tulip glass.
Clear deep russet with reddish hues, nice off white head.
Soft nose, some bread, caramel malt, faint floral notes and light spices.
Sweet heavy malt flavor, with dark caramel and juicy ripe fruit. Low bitterness, mellow spices.
Full bodied, thick but surprisingly not cloying, somewhat alcoholic but OK.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 330 ml. Pours dark copper red. Gets clearer as we drink. Medium persistant beige head. Lacing. Aroma: nice aroma of sweet cherry, along with caramel, malt, and spice (cinnamon, muscad). Awesome taste also: strong hints of caramel and malt. Well balanced sweetness and some bitterness in the end. Alcohol well hidden. Full bodied, but not long lasting. Warming sensation. Not very familiar with the style, but I did enjoy this one for sure!
