Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a bright ruby with a thin, dense off-white head. Spicy aroma with tempered notes of toffee and molasses sweetness. Initial flavours of grassy hop, orange peal and cloves. More spiciness on the finish with nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon and some grain. Lots of festive flavours all in harmony.

It pours a clean dark brown color, with generous beige creamy head, and nice lace. It’s a good malty brew, with caramel accents, perfectly mature, with a delicate nuttiness; quite sweet but balanced, with correct bitterness.

2007-11-20, draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Mahogany color with red hue. It has a bit soapy aroma and some rhubarb, with good caramel flavor; light roasted malt, chocolate and rhubarb. The bitterness is a bit above its ordinary level. Balanced, very good!

2006-11-27, draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Vintage 2003, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Beautiful dark amber color; thick head. The aroma shows some age and some alcohol. What the aroma lost, the taste gained, in complexity: malt, caramel, Madeira wine, candy, Caribbean rum…

2003-01-21, bottle, 2-4-8-4-15=33
Dark color, beautiful head. Unpleasant aroma: cardboard, wet paper… Strong malty body, sweet, well balanced only at the end, with a sharp caramel character (and some hop).
Not complex, but robust, sweet Christmas beer.

Clear auburn. Light maple creamy foam with marvelous stickiness. Rrefined, yet mild aroma of wood notes, earthy hop, faint vanilla, lightly toasted grain, licorice, and cola. Starts thin on the palate but quickly turns creamy with a late rush of tiny bubbles. Maple flavors are accompanied by traces of licorice and subtle chocolate while hop bitters tease you before the long toasted, bready finish. Notable acidity. Well masked alcohol. A sophisticated seaonal sipper.

Tried on tap at Blackbull pub. One of my favorites christmas beers. Extremely full-bodied and potent.

75cl bottle shared with family. The beer has a browned body with a beige medium fizzy to creamy head that doesn’t stay long. The aroma of this beer is very sweet and warm, with hints of dark malt, sugar, caramel, spices and herbs. The taste has that same sweet and warm feeling. Definitely caramel and sugar. This is a quite strong but doesn’t taste like one. Nice beer for this time of the year.

Pours a nice dark brown glass with big white foam head. Wonderfull beer with a nice sweet touch. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, yeast and a bit of coffee. All very well balanced and with an enorm intensity. Great mouthfeel too!

Superb retro festive label needs mentioning - I hope they never change it; deep red brown beer, little head to speak of with a few off white bubbles clinging to the edges; aroma is plum pudding, raisins, spices; taste is lovely dried fruit, brandy butter, spice, toasted malt; sweet, with a developing bitterness followed by a pleasing, almost savoury finish; most Chrismas beers are pale imitations of this; an unchanging Yuletide classic.
