Mild sweet aroma, some spice, but also wet cardboard. Stale hops in the background. Dark brown with hint of red, clear, with thick foamy light-tan lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Alcohol carbonic burn. Starts sweet with caramel and toffee, a little chocolate, and some spice. Alcohol warming, and mild bitter finish. Sweet and caramel, brown sugar in the finish. Mild sweet after with light bitter, vapory.

Chestnut color with a light brown head. The taste is very sweet and malty with light notes of plums, raisins. Finishes with a slight alcohol sharpness.

This beer is great!! Pours a frothy light brown head on a chestnut colored body with a fine red glow. Aroma is heavy malty and fruity with lots of spices. Notes of chocolate, raisins, prunes and a warming tone of alcohol. Excellent! Flavor is full-bodied and extremely tasty. Malt, nuts, spices, dark fruits, citrus, milk chocolate. Soft, smooth and warming and really how a christmas beer should be like imo. Outstanding!

Aroma is roasted malty, soapy and bready. Cloudy, brown coloured with a lasting off-white/brown head. Good appearance. Taste is of roasted malts, quite sweet, some toffee, bread and a little fruit. Quite sticky beer. Alcohol is reasonable hidden. Better brew than expected.

Poured with a huge (> 5 fingers), brown/tan frothy head. Long lasting with lacing. Malty smelling and tasting (roasted malts, molasses and a little fruity).

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2010 (Bottled, 0.75l) Very dark, clear deep reddish amber with a small, lacy and lasting head. Sweetish and caramely nose with lots of dried fruit. Flavor is dried-fruity, lightly alcoholic, caramely, slightly vegetably and cardboardy. Medium to full body, warming palate with low CO2. Somewhat dull and straightforward in the "Leffe style", but certainly one of the few gems of this brewery. 6246

Clear, deep mahogany ale with interesting, ink-blot lacework. The nose is of dark raisins, overripe apple, tawny port, grapefruit rind and alcohol. The flavor is of maple syrup, chocolate- covered cherries, caramel, red wine and alcohol. Odd hop profile. Just a touch on the strange side. I like strange. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and a lengthy, bitter finish. Thanks to jbrus for the bottle!
