2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mansquito (1607) - washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 30, 2010
Some beer garden in Williamsburg: 500ml ($7): Pours a pale golden color with an ok looking white head. Aroma of straw, grain, and those good ole’ German hops. Beer itself is rather crisp and really refreshing. There is enough flavor to justify drinking it. Not too much in the way of complexity, but obviously, that is not what this beer is about.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 capali1234 (224) - HUNGARY - MAY 22, 2010
Light gold. Not much nose, bit grassy. Thin, crisp, and excessively fizzy
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Nickls (1297) - SE DC, Washington DC, USA - MAY 10, 2010
(Old BA rate - can)
Poured with a foamy finger of pure white head. Just OK retention, and no lacing to speak of. Yellowy golden color, noticeable rising carbonation.
Clean, lightly sweet malt, with just the faintest hint of some hop bitterness. Light malty sweetness, and like the aroma just a touch of hop bitterness. Glad some of the more common adjunct flavors didn’t show up too much (i.e. cooked corn/vegetables). Bit heavier for the style, and pretty fat considering the other attributes of the beer. Made it more enjoyable for me at least. Solid drinkability for me considering the style, and I actually found this at least more drinkable than many others that are also mass-produced. Overall, better than average for the style. The canned version (reviewed here) isn’t bad. No tinges of metallic taste, etc. I do have to say that it is better on tap. Complimented some nice Austrian comfort food pretty well. Not bad at all for what it is
3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 unclemattie (3244) - Georgia, USA - APR 30, 2010
Not to be confused with the evil god from Ghostbusters...
Green, 0,33L twist-off bottle. Pale yellow color, tall white head. Aroma of straw and those wonderful skunky hops. Gotta love a green bottle. Flavor is of sweet malt, nice calming hop flavor. A soft bitterness gives this Pale Lager a nice balance. Finishes with the flavor of steamed vegetables, soft enough so you know you are getting nurishment. 28 april 2010.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 MadIndian (1739) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2010
Thin golden pour with white head. Sweet aroma and some mild dryness in flavor. Not for me but not horrible.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 bmeup (401) - Ormeau, AUSTRALIA - APR 8, 2010
Clear straw colour. Hop - malt aroma. Bland flavour of hop & malt, thin and not real good.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 FreshHawk (596) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - APR 2, 2010
On-tap.
A - Pale clear straw gold color with a good sized foamy and creamy white head. Good retention with decent lacing left over.
S - Faint floral and grassy hops with a fair amount of grainy malt as well.
T - Fairly light taste with a fair amount of sweet grainy/cereal malt taste that is accompanied by a faint grassy and floral taste. Those hop flavors don’t really provide a bitterness though. After drinking it for a while, there is a slight bready malt finish.
M - Light with a good amount of carbonation. Crisp and a bit fizzy, but a little watery.
D - Decently refreshing beer that is pretty easy to drink, but not one that has me necessarily reaching for another.
Notes: A decent beer for when you want just something easy and inoffensive to drink. Refreshing pilsener, but a bit too thin and not enough flavor to really be good.
