2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Bottled. Although the bottle I got from my fellow homebrew club member's basement was dated "Best by 3/01," it still bore up in pretty good shape. A sudsy head over the usual straw body. I can taste a little of the Dortmunder style here; certainly a little more malty sweetness than an American beer, without being sugary, and a hint of German hops. To paraphrase their own slogan; Nicht so “Gut” as a DAB, “Besser” than a Beck's.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
330ml green bottle poured into a Lager glass. Appearance is clear pale golden colored with a small white head, that reduced quickly leaving a little lacing. Aroma of wheat bread and a hint of hay. Flavours of wheat bread, lemon zest and a hint of honey.Taste is light sweet and light-medium bitter. Palate is light bodied, thin texture and average carbonation. Overall an okay beer, Gösser Beer is a typical standard European Pale Lager. Unoffensive and quite refreshing cold.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours into the glass like apple juice with a wimpy 1/2 finger soap suds style cap. This is dull beer, meant to be drunk cold & fast straight from the can. It’s watery & bland & lacking in any distinct hop presence. There’s a briskness in the carbonation that makes it vaguely fleshing but probably one of the more flaccid beers you’ll find on the shelf.

Vizes, fémes, komlós, de édes. Talán a Dreher szintjét megüti. Új teszt szükséges.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle after bottle whilst watching Bohren Und Der Club Of Gore at Grelle Forelle in Vienna. What a venue. Completely unsignposted. Took a while to get there. They don’t presell tickets for any gigs and they don’t open the doors much before the gig so basically you have to join a foray of hipsters standing down by the river until they decide to start trading. The place is extremely cool. James Murphy played there a couple of months ago. Bohren were incredible (the beer served it’s purpose).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Half litre bottle. A: Golden, clear, small fast fading head, fairly lively looking. S: Subtle Saaz, enough said. T: Subtle sweetness from the malt is balanced out by hints of sour dough. M: Smooth, low carbonation, slightly sticky texture. O: A cross between a Munich Helles and a Czech Pilsner, slightly forgettable but I wouldn’t refuse another if offered one.
