Pours a light tan, one finger-head that goes slowly leaving a good lace. Deep amber color. Light carbonation. Medium bodied. Nose is malty. Starts sweet, has a plum flavor finishes smooth and mellow. Nice dark beer. $1.75 for a 12oz bottle from Liquor Barn Lexington, KY.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Solidly dark brown color with a fizzy tan head, this has a sweet malt aroma. It’s got a creamy mouthfeel, and the taste is of roasted caramel malts and a dash of dark fruits. Bit of a bitter aftertaste, but not offensive.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very dark red with a small light tan head. Sweet malty aroma with fruity caramel smell to it. Taste is smooth but very thin tasting with a roasty finish. A dark fruity aftertaste remains with a very mild bitterness left behind. Not an impressive brew, but at least easily drinkable and not repulsive.

3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Well I had this on tap so it tasted very fresh. I think it was a little to heavy for me. I like certain dark beers but if they have too thick of consistancy I don’t enjoy them. It was a good color and scent It was just hard to drink though the flavor itself was not terrible.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2005 Nice little green bottle, quite similar to the export one. The two kinds were next to each other, and I picked this one up by "accident". Nice colour really, but the taste was a bit off-putting, sweet in a bad way (plums/raisins maybe). Seems a bit unbalanced. Rerate: Well, guess I was a bit mistaken last time, better this time, but still not that special. No trace of strange sweetness/fruity flavor from the last bottle. Burnt malts are dominant here, giving it a coffeish taste. Seems more robust now. +1 in flavor and overall impression.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I didn’t notice the green bottle because it’s so dark, or I wouldn’t have picked this one up. I’m glad I did. The bottle is one of the cooler ones I’ve seen in a while.
Pours a dark brown with an interestingly white head that doesn’t stay long or leave much lace.
Aroma is dark fruits, malt, and a hint of dark chocolate.
Flavor is nutty/malty with a bit of coffee to it. It’s interesting for sure.
Palate is a creamy carbonation, almost nitro-induced, with a nice mineral mouthfeel. Overall it’s good for the style and definately worth giving it a try. Given the bottle color, though, I hope you don’t find one that’s skunked.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark burgundy brown, rich, creamy, aromatic, tan head. Sweet notes of chocolate, raisins, plums, slightly roasty, toasty, nutty. Sharply metallic on the palate at first, with sweetness coming up from behind, like the caramel coating on a candy bar. Short, but sweet finish. Medium body. Just enough to grant some substance. One of the best lagers I’ve had lately.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color, big beige head. Caramel aroma with notes of honey. Creamy palate with medium body, no carbonation to mention. Strong chocolate flavor is cut nicely by biting hops. Nice lace in glass, chocolate taste lasts long. Dimensional world class dunkel for my taste!
