The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness. 11.8°

Mörk lager med tydlig kaffedoft. Inte min typ av mörk lager. Smakar kanske godare till kötträtter.

Pours a cola brown with aroma of a Heinekein dark hops. Taste is mildly sweet with a mild bitter aftertaste. Overall a slightly complex beer that has a Europeon taste.

0.5L bottle. Agree with description pretty much, it is not too sweet, good balance. Good appearance, taste and mouthfeel - typical of the style. I liked it a lot!

0,33 l green twist top bottle at a beach bar in Arbanja. Bottle reads "Gösser Dark Beer" and it’s brewed in Karlovac, Croatia. Pours a clear amber orange with an inch thick, light brown, fluffy head. Light toasted, herbal notes and light malts on the nose. Malt syrup, a toasted sweetness and a pulpy light bitterness. Medium body and light doughy. Light sickening.

Brown colour, white foam which dissolves quickly. Mild smell. Strong coffee taste. Tastes like stripped down Guinness.

Bottle (330ml bought in Split, Croatia):
Dark, quite rich aroma from this one with some roasted malts and a nutty smell too. There is some caramel and light toffee notes along with some burnt sugar, touches of chocolate and darker fruits too.
Black with a tiny, mainly bubbly off-white coloured head that is short lived and as such a bit disappointing.
Sweet to begin with along with lots of sugar and a touch of lighter coffee. I could detect some caramel, toffee and dark fruits such a figs and raisins.
Smooth with a good amount of carbonation, a medium body and plenty of sweetness. It goes down well, with a dry but not overly dry finish.

Very nice to drink and somewhat surprising considering I found this one in a Croatian supermarket in the height of summer. Even in almost 40 degree heat this one went down well with a solid flavour and great taste.

Bottle- almost black with beige head into glass, more reddish brown when held to light, roasted malt and chocolate with light hop, a decent easy drinking brew.

330ml bottle. Pours a nice dark brown with a red hue and has a half inch tan head that fades fast. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and some caramel. Has a roasted malt and caramel aroma. The body is mostly full, but slightly on the thin side. Rather sweet and reminds me of a flat Coke. Very easy to drink and a great thirst quencher, but not overly great.
