Bottle in Vienna. Slightly sour aroma, with a bit of roasted feel. A touch of sweetness as well. Dryish taste. Just a touch of sweetness, with dry roasted flavor. Understated. Quite highly carbonated for the type. Sweetness comes out a bit as it warms, in the finish as well. Much sweeter, fuller flavor, but lacking a bit in balance. Leaves a sweetish, slightly unsatisfying finish.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 joechristenson (122) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 7, 2010
On tap at the Glockenspiel in Saint Paul, MN. Definitely a malty beer, with subtle fruit flavors (black currants, red cherries, blackberries) making appearances. Superficially creamy -- starts out nice, but the body is ultimately thin, sometimes even bordering on watery. Decent lacing. Slippery on the palate. An interesting beer, but it needs more body to really be "harmonious" and "well rounded."

Green twist off bottle. Has a slight veggie cooked cabbage aroma. Looks dark fer sure. No head. Aroma cleans up to just metallic clean and sterile. Taste is also a tad metallic with some dark beer hints. Fairly friendly dark sample of beer. Good carbonation and overall easy to drink. Some industrial or processed feel about it. Good beer experience.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 McGarnigle (443) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 9, 2010
Green bottle says 340/09, which might mean drink by 340th day of 2009, but there are other letters and numbers as well. The upshot is this is a pretty rich dunkel that gives you good flavor, but skews a tad sweet. Pretty good body too for a beer that’s only 4.2%.
