The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness. 11.8°

Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Malty aroma of dark bread, toasted bread, caramel and very light smoke. It’s on the sweet side and has a kind of old and unpleasant feel to it. I can’t really appreciate this beer.

Bottle. Clear dark redish brown with a nice beige light brown head that leaves good lacings. Aroma is roasted malts, some caramel. Taste is quite much the same with a very faint note of chocolate. Body is thin and a bit watery.

Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, caramel, roasted, bread notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101211]

Bottle as Gösser Dark bought at Systembolaget at fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, nuts, hops and caramel.
