GTMW 2008: (Princess of Darkness). Very dark brown with a frothy beige head and outstanding lace. The aroma has notes of heavy roasted and charred malts, some bitterness chocolate and walnut, herbal and grassy hops, plum and fig esters too. I even get some rye on the nose. Interesting and inviting... Sadly the taste does not match the aroma but it is hardly bad just a bit weaker, very malty at first with some fruits and hop bitterness in support. A tad astringent and chalky upon the finish. A surprisingly good beer with a creamy oily mouth feel...

Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Sampled on draught at the GTMW ’08. Pours a dark amber brown brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and beige ring that stays with the glass. Aroma of roasted dark and caramel malts, some roasted nuts, a touch of chocolate and light herbal spice. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt, some caramel and flowery hops. Finish is mildly bitter with flavors of roasted dark malt and a quickly disappearing flowery hop character. This one had more of a brown ale character than a porter, but still enjoyable.

Nice hint of smoke in a Porter that really fills the mouth. I particularly enjoyed the hoppiness of this balanced Porter

On tap at the Crescent Moon. Pours black as the Princess’ heart. Has a lovely contrasting off white head. Pleasant mild roasted, but serious chocolate aroma. Flavor is satisfying- not oil pan sludge thick, but not watery weak either. Very nice mid range balance. I get slight anise flavor in this. The chocolate palate of semi-sweet chocolate is dominant and delicious. Perhaps the finest porter ever made in Columbus Nebraska!
