COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Also available from Wetherspoons in casks.
"This full-tasting, but deceptively drinkable, amber ale has a good fruitiness and a nice hop edge which tempers the caramellised malt. It is clean and precise, within an almost perfect balance of Challenger and Goldings hops.
The recipe has its origin in the 14th century. The present version is a little more heavy and contains more hops. The balance between the different malts, the fine hops and typical tastes of spices creates a perfect harmony between the powerful taste of brown beers and the freshness of the blond beers. This fresh aromatic and pithy light-brown drink can be served cool.

1pt9.4oz no bottle dating into 13.25oz Stölzle Berlin; softly hazed fiery amber body beneath a huge off white eclectically structured head, solid layers of lace; well balanced aromas and flavors of berries, apple, citrus, spice, dried leaves and sweet malt; highly quaffable, slick and smooth mml body with well controlled carbonation, lingering bright fruit notes

Amber, bright, opaque, thick frothy white head; aroma is yeasty, sweet, banana; taste is sweet, spicy with banana/toffee predominating; high carbonation which imparts crispness; ok Belgian, perhaps tending towards run-of-the-mill.

Aroma: Belgian yeast, sweet stewed fruits Clear copper in color, very fizzy! Massive head that keeps growing. Lots of lace. Sweet, slight alcohol warming. Finishes quite dry. Some hop bitterness. Slick mouthfeel and less fizzy on the tongue than in the bottle. Medium bodied A drinkable beer that I am sure will go down a lot better if there was some food to enjoy with it. 330ml Bottle Poured

Pours hazy amber colour with one finger head. I don’t get a lot on the aroma. Taste is malt, yeast, a little bit sweet. Not a beer that I will buy again.

Very nice discovery! Very refreshing, nice full fruity taste and drinks away easely. A slight hop taste, well balanced with the rest.

Bottle served in a tulip. Cloudy dark amber in color with more head than liquid on an easy pour. Excellent retention and significant lace. As good as it gets. Nose of fleshy dark fruit and yeast pushed on by the carbonation. Minimally sweet yeast forward flavor. Light-medium body, fizzy carbonation, thin-sticky texture and a dry, slightly hopped finish. Really nice.
