"This full-tasting, but deceptively drinkable, amber ale has a good fruitiness and a nice hop edge which tempers the caramellised malt. It is clean and precise, within an almost perfect balance of Challenger and Goldings hops.
The recipe has its origin in the 14th century. The present version is a little more heavy and contains more hops. The balance between the different malts, the fine hops and typical tastes of spices creates a perfect harmony between the powerful taste of brown beers and the freshness of the blond beers. This fresh aromatic and pithy light-brown drink can be served cool.

Dark red copper body with huge beige head. Caramel malts, a very pleasant fruit cake malt base, fruity hop, original and we’ll balanced. Pleasant Belgian medium mouthful, fruity yet clean yeast, professional but with a nice fruity and malt character. A drinkable and not cloying Belgian amber. Looks great, good taste too. (75cl bottle from Cave Gambrinus)

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A hazy mahogany beer with a large beige thin foam. Excellent persistance. Spicy aroma, complex herbal, alcohol. Taste is bitter, light sweet, sour note. Refreshing. Medium body and texture. Bitter sour finish. Overall, delicious. Taste is surprising. Cheers !

BOTTLE 33CL. Look: dark amber/brandy and clear (with yeast sediment) with a huge tan creamy head with great retention. Aroma: light fruit, peach, raisins, fermentation-like acid notes. Taste: burnt sugar, raisins, mostly dry, peppery, light warming alcohol. Finishes dryer and somewhat flat.

Amber colour, well actually more brownish, with a very dense creamy head, slightly beige. Smell is sweet, malty, fruity, but with alcohol hints. Taste is quite sweet too, but well balanced, caramel, hazelnut, with some alcohol burn. A good beer, yes.

Pours a beautiful deep red with huge white head. Aroma is cherries, alcohol, floral hops, belgian spicy yeast, some citrus and some caramel. Slick and fruity mouth feel with medium carbonation. Aftertaste is dry cherries, alcohol, some hop bite and a lasting bitter finish. Overall: Excellent. Great appearance.

Tasty amber beer, that is a bit more hoppy and bitter than its stylemates. I liked it.

Bottle from some beer store in Antwerp. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is dry malt, light fruit and Belgian yeast. The flavour is medium bitter with an alcoholic liqourice malt palate. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. The alcohol is starting to dominate this beer and there are not enough other dominant flavours to make it too interesting.

Bottle from SuperBest, CPH - pours a clear amber colour, with a mahoosive billowing beige head, decent persistent lacing. Aroma and taste of sweet bready malts, yeasty, nice floral fruity notes, orange, lemony, slight herbal, some clove. Nice one.
