"This full-tasting, but deceptively drinkable, amber ale has a good fruitiness and a nice hop edge which tempers the caramellised malt. It is clean and precise, within an almost perfect balance of Challenger and Goldings hops.
The recipe has its origin in the 14th century. The present version is a little more heavy and contains more hops. The balance between the different malts, the fine hops and typical tastes of spices creates a perfect harmony between the powerful taste of brown beers and the freshness of the blond beers. This fresh aromatic and pithy light-brown drink can be served cool.

Pours an amber beer with a good white head. Smells sweet and malts. Triple like. Tastrs metallic and licorice which doesn’t last very long. Medium body, watery texture and an average carbo.

pours hazy amber-greyish head with a tall creamy off-white head, very good retention and lacing. belgian malts and spices, wheat, toasted wheat and toasted cereals, spices and a bit of earthiness, fruity too, touch of dust. lively carbonation, light body - oily, abv very well hidden, assertive grassy-herbal-spicy finish. much enjoyed with my bro while watching in bruges.. ok.. not so close geographically, but hey, was just a coincidence.

Álcool bem inserido, final longo e saboroso. Ótima breja! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a shop in Belgium. Spicy, fruity and yeasty smell. Similar taste with a malty backbone. A bit boozy.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a hazy orangish brown appearance with a foamy brown head. Somewhat spicy yeasty, herbal, a bit earthy, rich fruity, candy sugar, caramel aroma. A bit strong, rich candy/cookie, grape/plum, candy sugar, caramel, light toffee, somewhat spicy flavor with a bit of a bite on the finish. Pretty tasty beer that reminds me of my Belgian trips but I’ve had better from Het Anker.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a small fizzy head. The carbonation is somewhat high. Aromas are caramel, malt, yeast and spice. A bit tart, but noticable hops on the finish.

From the caged, corked 750 ml. bottle. It is a lovely looking ruby red pour with a luscious off-white soft head that lingers. Delightful aromas of malts, yeast, plum, prune, butterscotch, and the lightest of hops. The body is full and creamy. The taste brings out a fuller fruitiness not immediately noticeable on the nose with a gentle malts and a moderate but complex hop bitterness hanging on at the end. Dry ending. Wonderful experience.

Ambrée trouble, bonne pétillance, mousse crémeuse et persistante. Assez maltée, caramélisée, notes de poivre, sucre candi (léger), un rien épicée.
