COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Also available from Wetherspoons in casks.
"This full-tasting, but deceptively drinkable, amber ale has a good fruitiness and a nice hop edge which tempers the caramellised malt. It is clean and precise, within an almost perfect balance of Challenger and Goldings hops.
The recipe has its origin in the 14th century. The present version is a little more heavy and contains more hops. The balance between the different malts, the fine hops and typical tastes of spices creates a perfect harmony between the powerful taste of brown beers and the freshness of the blond beers. This fresh aromatic and pithy light-brown drink can be served cool.

33cl bottle, somewhere in time.
In short: fruity belgian ale.
Classic Carolus revisited, this time with some caramalts, giving some caramel aromas and flavours, still alcohol noticeable, quite fruity. Nothing to complain, nothing to remark, just as you expected.

Not bad but doesn’t come close to some of the other beers these guys carry. A little honey sweetness and syrupy sense here. Pours hazy maroon with puffy head and good lacing. Some booze and a little rust. Sweet finish. Bottle.

From bottle. Pours a amber-brown with a nice head, that stays for a while. Smells sweet like a dark honey. Nice sweet taste with aroma’s of caramel, fruits, yeast and chestnuts. Long batteries aftertaste. Very tasty and different beer.

Beardbeerman (216) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 14, 2015
Pours a lighty hazy amber topped by a generous white head showing great retention and lacing properties. Seems to hold high carbonation. The nose is sweet malts, some dark fruits and very expressive yeasts. The taste follows the path traced by the nose with the sweet malts, dark fruits and fruity yeasts blending through a medium body feel. The bitterness is not overwhelming but the carbonation is too vivid and tunes down the brew. Once cleared though, the finish is long, warm and enjoyable. Cheers!
