Another fantastic brew form Het Anker! Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a very large yellow-tan head. The aroma was a lovely mix of sweet, tangy, yeasty, bready and fruity elements. The flavor was sweet with notes of fresh pear, caramel and a tart finish. Wonderful!

Bottle 330ml. Exceptional beer. Aromas of banana, caramel, dough, dark fruit. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is velvety, medium-to-full bodied. Brown, with a frothy white head.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 heavy (1956) - Split, CROATIA - SEP 1, 2007
0,33l bottle. Already puring in the glass I noticed strong beautiful aroma of hop fruits mixed with flowers, but also some nice undefined malt. Appearance isn’t any worser - amber colored with very large, creamy ebony head. Flavor is really full as stated in comm, you know you are drinking the right thing with rich malt...somewhat fruity. Soft carbonation. Long nice finish. Wonderful beer, but very expensive. But even then I will surely have it again as it is the best beer I’ve tried so far!

Pours a dark, unfiltered brown into the glass with a tan head. Big malt aromas that are noticeable immediately. A generous amount of sediment in with this beer too. Lots of dried fruit character. Just looks delicious...and the taste confirms the look. Sweet malty goodness. I don’t really get much hops on the palate with this beer (the description above almost makes it sound like a hoppy beer). Delicious and drinkable.

Bottle from State Line. Hazy medium copper pour with hints of ruby and pink in the color, and a 2-finger off-white head. Aroma is fruity, malty, with some funky yeast and banana notes. Tastes of sweetish dried fruit, fig, berry, citrus, with a sweet caramel malt backbone, plus floral notes late. Rich, very complex and well balanced palate. This one is outstanding.

330ml brown bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester. Pours a hazy dark orange with a good inch or so of off-white head that persists. Smells citrussy and pithy, with caramel and spice somewhere in there. Tastes like an equal mix of spice, caramel, and citrus/orange. Fairly dry on the finish. Light to medium in body with much carbonation. Unique, complex, and pretty drinkable for what it is. Nicely done!
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 dwyerpg (4067) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - APR 14, 2007
A light spice aroma with lots of cream. The head is very effervescent with spices and alcohol in the end. The flavor starts with a bit of cream that quickly changes into spices and a bit too much present alcohol. Still, a quite nice beer, maybe their best for me.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 haukur (1010) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - MAY 4, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2005 a dark amber color with a large head. Stunning looks and an even stunning aroma. Spicy, malty and hoppy smell, maybe some tiny hints of raisins, yeast also.. I could smell this all day! Very enjoyable and extremely quaffable, a very nice body, some spices, liqourice and a perfect blend of hops and malt ... this is delicious!!!!

Pours a 5+ (and this is very slowly) finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and light bodied. Sweet caramel nose. Flavor is light caramel and raisins. Higher ABV is hidden. $4.25 for a 330ml bottle from Gillingham’s Woodstock, VT.
