3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - JAN 22, 2008
Cask at JDW, Rochester during the Wetherspoon Festival, Nov, 2007 as Gouden Carolus Blond with Goldings & Saaz. Spicy blond with that balance of lager and ale that some blonds have. The spice dominates with some interesting yeast notes building in the finish. The malt feels thin and undistinguished, especially for a 5.5% - and that is probably the result of a fuller attenuation than is common for British ales. Long, lingering foam head - wheat? There are some wheat characteristics coming through - a slight tastiness and a sour note in the nose. Wheat is a feature of blond beers. The yeast is Belgian, and gives the Belgian character. Interesting drop.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2011
Test vom 27.12.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,8,7,6,3,6 - 6,70

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ron (1697) - Rochester, New York, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Thanks Steve B. for bringing to 1000 Islands ’10’. Poured a Large that that stayed a bit. Good lacing. The citurs and spices in the aroma and flavor was fine. The too hoppiness was not fine. Too hoppy for a Blond.

From a bottle. beautiful 2-3 finger wonderful white head as good as Duvel, vanilla, small citrus flavor, this ale is top shelf Belgan, I am in love although I love everything Carolus brews. Mouthfeel is refreshing not overly carbonated - next to Chimay one of my all time favorites.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 twindadplus2 (515) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 2, 2009
Corked bottle 750ml bottle. Initial pour yielded nothing but a monstrous, foamy head that eventually gave way to some hazy yellowish amber beer. Sweet, spicy, fruity yeast aroma. Flavor is spiced fruit with a spicey hops bite up front fadinng into a buttery malt ending. Low end of medium bodied with a lightly oily palate. Interesting and tasty but a bit muddled at times.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, Ashford. Belgian yeast and peach aroma. Bit watery in mouth. Decent blond ale, bit too sweet but nice to have something different
