16.5.2014. Very dark brown with red, thick head. Very sweet caramel malt aroma with raisin, dark fruits and hint of vanilla. Also taste is caramel sweet in the beginning with malts and ripe fruits, getting into more raisins and malty finish with less sweetness and some hops. Overall is still quite sweet. Nice but big bottle alone is too much!

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A hazy deep reddish copper coloured pour with a fast fading cream head; aroma of unrefined sugar; rich cane sugar taste with some raisins giving a firm body; and a pleasant grainy finish that’s slightly sour. A rounded and well-balanced beer that hides it’s alcohol well, but leaves a pleasant warmth in the stomach.

330ml bottle from Beers Of Europe website (£2.89):
An enjoyable beer that proved easy enough to drink but in truth didn’t really strike me as a memorable offering or one that I’d be all that likely to go back to in the future. There was nothing wrong with the beer as such, it just seemed to be missing that special something that would have found be rating it higher. This was partially down to the beer following a fairly predictable pattern from nose to taste with the ripe fruits and sweetness staying consistent throughout; a decent beer but there are better Belgian offerings out there to be had.

Classic art from the Flanders’ fields. Delicious body, fizzy carbonation. Important Belgian beer, among all of important Belgian beers. Light cloudy gold, light bitter. it is perfectly sweet and sour. White stable top. Strongly perfumed aroma of butterscotch cookie, port wine with cherry hints. Not very promising on the nose, but when you try it - delicious!
