Het Anker Brewery still brews "The Emperor’s Beer" which is top-fermented and bottle conditioned following traditional methods. Its high gravity (O.G. 1080-85) combines the warmth of wine and the freshness of beer. Gouden Carolus is one of the strongest and most exciting beers in the world. After lengthy maturing and conditioning, it is bottled unfiltered, giving a beer which is rich in vitamins and 100% natural. Gouden Carolus has unlimited storage (it even improves with age) and will charm you with its warm coppery colour and rich bouquet.

From elcervecero. In Duvel glass. Playing Goodbye Deponia. Not bad, but I find it a bit more sweet than desiderable

Bottle sample at Vova’s Hoppy Beerthday tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin, Tel Aviv. Thanks Vova. Deep brownish-red with beige head. Aroma of raisin, prune and dried fruits. Very sweet flavor, syrupy, kind of old wine, notes of raisin, boozy. Sticky, full-bodied.

Bottle at Eulogy. Very dark brown/black pour with a solid showing of foamy lace. Delicate dark brown fruit. Rehydrated prunes and raisins. Molasses candies. Peat. Burnt caramels. Vanilla smoke. Root beer. Pleasant aroma. Thick flavors though the body reads a bit watery. Nice dark sugary beer that still finishes mostly dry.

Bardzo ładny, brunatny kolor, wysoka piana. Mocno słodowe, alkohol ładnie wyeksponowany. Jednak nie moja bajka. Zbyt słodkie jak na mój gust.

33cl bottle, served in Trappist glass. Pours brown with medium off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, fruits, licorice and toasty notes. The flavour is like eating cake, but that doesn’t mean it is too sweet. Apparently there’s no bitterness, but that’s not a problem to still find this brew balanced. Medium body, good carbonation. Something everyone can enjoy drinking.

One of those beers that you can just sit and nurse because it is just so good to drink. Heavier and with more malt than expected (should have looked a little harder at the label)
