Perfectly balanced, silky, rich body, and a very long, satisfying aftertaste. This would be in a leaguewith westvleteren if only it were a bit drier. Still, wonderful stuff. Pour: 750 mL silkscreened bottle into Westvleteren goblet. Dark mahogany color with an inch of light tan foam. Nice fine carbonation, filmy lace.
Nose: Spicy dark dough with coriander and peppery alcohol. Sweet bread and a slight chocolate tinge. The booze is a little strong, calling to mind notes of nail polish.
Mouth: Flavors of dark caramel, cocoa, pumpernickel, tobacco, banana pith, honey, bubblegum, cherry, dates, peanut skins, and alcohol. Nice complexity but still too hot. Carbonation is obtrusively high; some swirling and time is needed before I can comfortably sip this beer. Dry warming finish.
