guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Mar 24, 2008 2006 Vintage. Cloudy, reddish brown appearance with a small beige head and decent lacing. Lovely aroma of soft fruit, yeast, caramel and licorice. Rich, complex flavor full of ripe fruit, sweet malts, toffee, spices and a light touch of alcohol. Smooth, full bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Sweet, long lasting finish. Absolutely delightful. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Mar 23, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 20082007 bottle. Aroma: yeasty, caramel, brown sugar. Dark brown colour with tan head that disappears quickly. Sweet, bubbly, warm blend of fruity raisin, caramel and brown sugar softens the high alcohol content nicely until you try to stand up. Very clean aftertaste. renffisch (490), london, Greater London, England Mar 20, 2008 2002 vintage courtesy of mes. thank you!!! Darkest brown in colour. And now... how should i write this... well, it smells like cocaine, pine and definitely medicinal. but tastes of dirty speed, with a bready note, not to forget. Its like a big hairy man on amphetamines :-) Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Mar 20, 2008 750 ml bottle, RBNAG07. Dark brown. Tall beige fluffy head that clings to the glass. Strong dry Belgian yeast aroma. Strong banana aroma. Rich and sweet malt flavours. Smooth texture. High carbonation. Chocolate flavours with a note of caramel. Great beer. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Mar 15, 2008 75 cl bottle at Redlight Redlight, recommended by Teech (sp?). Poured into a trappist glass. Nice big fluffy head, seems to be a little sediment but hard to tell in the light. Smells of Banana as most Grand Cru’s do. Strong alcohol flavor but not horrible so, its a sipper but a good one. That being said I find its missing some of the complexity and depth of flavor of some other beers that got lower ratings, the Brooklyn Extra Brune for one. This one could also stand with a touch more carbination to make it a little more drinkable. Well crafted but I’m not as enamored with it as some. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 15, 2008 750ml courtesy of Mes, thanks! 2002 vintage, 8.5%. Piney, slightly medicinal aroma. Hazy mid-brown amber with heavy dark sediment. Caramel, malt and alcohol on the tongue, with a rich finish. Not bad but I don’t feel it’s a 4+. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Mar 14, 2008 Bottle thanks to the cheeseman. Pours a well carbonated amber brown color with a tannish head and nice lacing. Aroma is very sweet with plums, cherries, caramel and just a hint of alcohol. Flavor is sweet brown sugar, dark fruits and warming alcohol. Thick bodied chewy texture. Long sweet finish. ScoWRee (275), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 13, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head that quickly disapears. Aroma is caramel, malty and has a hint of plum. Very nice aroma. Taste is sweet, well carbinated. Touches of brown sugar, carmel, fruit, malt with a kick of alcohol. Did I say this is nice...This is a very good Belgian Ale. 2007.
