Feb 4, 2008 2007 Bottle. Opaque mahogany pour with little off-white head. Aroma of fig, peat smoke and cinnamon. Deep rich malt flavor with a sligth ester character, dark fruit, nutmeg and spices. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation.

Jan 31, 2008 Pour a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Lightly sweet but deep raisin. Leather with some alcohol and strong dark malt... there’s a note I just can’t place though! Full creamy but not viscous. Boozy leathery dark malt character. Raisins, some prunes. Rather light and thin with some strange distinctive flavor I just can’t place. Lingers and I have feeling this may age well... I’ll just have to get some more!

Jan 25, 2008 On Draft at Chef Paul’s. Hazy light brown, thin creamy head, maple syrup aroma, but as it warmed the aroma turned more salty, bordering on tequila. Blast of intense sweetness right away, nearly overwhelming but it brings you back from the edge with the alcohol burn resembling a cognac, and just a slightly sour aftertaste. Just a touch of licorice right at the end. Complex, unique, enjoyable.

does not count  Jan 23, 2008 Poors a cherry brown with small off white head which disapates after a few minutes. aroma of caramel, roasted malts, brown sugar, and a hint of almost a peanut butter type. Flavor starts aweet and finishes with a tingle of alcohol. Beer is very well balanced and not overpowering at all. great brew.

Jan 18, 2008 750 ml bottle - 2007 Vintage. Pours a dark brown with some reddish highlights when held against a light. Moderate, somewhat dense, light tan head that lasted until about mid-glass. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, barrel syrup, brown sugar and alcohol. The flavor profile is very similar and is definitley tilted to the sweet side. Warming alcohol sensation at the finish, but not overpowering. Very good.

Jan 16, 2008 750 mL bottle. (2006 vintage.) Dark, translucent copper with some sediment and no head. Sharp aroma with dark fruit (plums, figs, etc), bubblegum, and maybe a little fresh maple syrup. The flavour is full and complex; again the dark fruit, a little alcohol, malt, spice and caramel. Not a lot of bitterness. Full body. Leaves a sweetness in your mouth. Medium to low carbonation. Very nice.

Jan 14, 2008 2007 edition, 75cl bottle from BevMo, poured into a tulip glass. A dark brown color with a light tan head and minimal lacing. Strong aromas of alcohol, raisins, plums, and yeast. Complex malty flavor, marked with plums and licorice. A good beer, but nearly overpowering.
