Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw/Blue

Pours a mahogany color. The nose is a mix of wine, prunes, some brown sugar and spice, and dark chocolate. The taste is a nice blend of sweet plum, chocolate, raisin, alcohol, and maybe some vanilla. I’ll have to buy a couple more to put in the cellar for a year or two.

Minimal light head upon pour into my snifter. Scent of raisins, plums, pears and dark syrup. Malty and syrupy, sweet and complex. Alcohol is right there with the hops at the finish, but I love an alcohol presence almost as much as a hoppy presence. This beer is a heavy one, but superb.

Pours a dark heavy brown with a slight tan head. Has some lacing. Hints of candied sugar, dark fruit, oak. Alcohol is not masked very well. Finishes with a strong alcohol taste on the tongue. Thanks to the girls at knightly for this one.

2006 Bottle. Big fruity aroma of fig, pumpkin, and malt. Very sweet with a fig and candied cherry front. Very thick mouthfeel.

Aroma is pure bubblegum and caramel apple. Flavor follows through with rich toffee. Very nice.
