joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA Jan 31, 2007 Here it goes big # 100. Poured form a 750 ML bottle that let out a loud pop upon uncorking. Pours a nice burnt brown color with a foamy tan head. Aromas of banana, raisens, fig, toffee, and a good dose of bready belgian yeast esters. The flavor is amazing, with a nice caramel sweetness covering the alcohol and breadiness. The alcohol is present, but not overwhelming, and the finish gives a nice burn. Ok so I have had this a few times before, but since it is my favorite brewery in the world, it had to be my 100th. Wonderful beer from a wonderful brewer beerist (14), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 29, 2007 Ruby red around the edges - deep brown in the middle. Rich pillowy head. Nose is dominated by rich, fruity belgian yeastiness and a touch of booze. There’s also a bit of Flavor is deep, rich, and complex. Bits of dark fruits - plum, rum soaked raisins, etc lead with a fruity, roastiness that follows. A slight malt sweetness is offset by a touch of hot alcohol. Palate is rich, smooth and velvety. Overall an excellent beer - maybe not quite the best quad/BDSA I’ve had, but very, very good. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jan 27, 2007 THOUGHTS: This was the first perfect beer I ever tasted. The first time I had it was a little over a year ago. This time it was a younger bottle than before, but I still think it’s perfect. When it’s aged for about two years it’s just off the chart. There are dark fruit aromas and flavors, along with chocolate vanilla and caramel. It just keeps getting better the warmer it gets. I love this beer, especially around the holidays. It goes down easy for such a high ABV and such rich flavors.
