MrRomero (1899), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Oct 12, 2008 750 ml caged and corked bottle requiring a wine opener to get the cork off. Bottling from 2006. Poured muddy brown with a tan head that dissipated quickly. Huge rich aroma of dark fruits and sweet malts. Very nice. Sweet flavor full of caramel, figs, raisins, and prunes. Huge alcohol that warms the body. A sipper for sure and very nice. JohnnyOS (625), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Oct 6, 2008 Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a large off-white head. Very sweet aroma of malt & dark fruits. Flavor to match with a large caramel and sugar finish with a touch of vanilla. GAManiac (352), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 4, 2008
Pours a slighly hazy dark copper with a big off-white head that shows great retention and lots of lacing. The aroma is dominated by the sweet sugary malts and dark fruits - figs, raisins, grapes. The taste is just as sweet as the aroma would indicate. Huge caramel and candy sugar sweetness with vanilla and dark fruit. The mouthfeel is sticky and the sweetness just coats the mouth from the first sip. This is a very complex and enjoyable Belgian ale. hirigalzkar (53), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Dark (brown to black), hazy. Both the aroma and taste is extremely complex. Hints of butter, choclate and soy in the aroma. Flavor is both sweet (fruity) and salty (soy). finol (19), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Bottle from Systembolaget.
Red liquid with very little head.
Soy, chocolate and liquorice aroma
Tasted of wall fern.
A lovely complex beer!
