I bought this at the brewery at the day of it’s release. Great show with some sort of reenactment of the arrival of Keizer Karel in Mechelen. Wonder if that happens every year at this beers release or if was a one off? Anyways, this is an excellent brew. Dark brown with a huge, frothy, light-brown head. Extremely full-bodied, full of good ingredients. Loads of roasted malt with notes of syrup and dried fruits - dates in particular. Sweetness indeed, but more fruity and fresh - which is unusual for it’s kind. a great beer indeed. 070500 omhper (12172), Stockholm, Sweden

Richly malty with dense soft mouthfeel. Relatively dry. Complex and very flavourful, notes of caramel and disturbing green apples.
