Ungstrup (10432), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 14, 2003 [2000 vintage] The aroma is sweet with notes of wood, yeast, plums, apples and other fruits - lovely complex. The color is redbrown but it has no head. The flavor is sweet and fruity and is very powerful - a fine beer. omhper (9704), Stockholm, Sweden May 26, 2004 Bottled, 2001 vintage. Thanks Bov! Deep ruby, beige head. Fruity bubblegum aroma. Richly malty with dense soft mouthfeel. Relatively dry. Complex and very flavourful, notes of caramel and disturbing green apples. A balanced Belgian beer, playing in the super premium league. Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 24, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 1999 at 8,5% ABV. I bought this at the brewery at the day of it’s release. Great show with some sort of reenactment of the arrival of Keizer Karel in Mechelen. Wonder if that happens every year at this beers release or if was a one off? Anyways, this is an excellent brew. Dark brown with a huge, frothy, light-brown head. Extremely full-bodied, full of good ingredients. Loads of roasted malt with notes of syrup and dried fruits - dates in particular. Sweetness indeed, but more fruity and fresh - which is unusual for it’s kind. a great beer indeed. 070500 Oakes (6556), Miami Beach, Canada May 19, 2005 Cloudy dark brown colour. Rich fig and dark fruit aroma with a fair bit of yeasty fun as well. Sweet flavour with a floral accent, again light hints of yeastiness. Lots of candyish dark malt character. Sweet, slightly boozy finish. sk8viking (5997), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 21, 2004 Dark red-brown color, heavy sweet fruity aroma and taste, full body, light dry finish.
