4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Almost ruby but slightly lighter, like caremelized brown sugar but with a reddish tint. Small off white thin head, fades quickly. Small bubbles adhering to the glass but I think that was my bad for not rinsing with cold water before pouring.
Aroma: Cornucopia of boozy dark fruits, port like smell. Barnyard but in a good way (likely a by product of the yeast).
Flavour: Lovely resiny (like honey) and fruity taste balanced well by nice toffee/caramel toastiness. Plums and prunes or figs prominent.
Mouthfeel: Warming due to the 11% ABV but not overpowering and quite welcome on a cool evening after an afternoon of raking leaves! Not harsh in the finish at all.
Overall: I am going to the LCBO tomorrow to pick up 3, which I will compare to this one, per the company this one is excellent to store several years!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
2015 bottle. Dark color with a small light tan head to it. Raisins, figs, molasses, malts and a nice bubblegum/banana yeast aroma. Really well balanced and nice. Flavour is also really nicely balanced. Notes of yeast esters, malts, sweet raisins, candi sugar. Full mouthfeel and velvety smooth texture.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 vintage, Pours medium, hazy brown. Tan head. Nose is molasses sugar, dried fruit, especially raisins and jam. Taste is sweet and malty. Tiniest bit of warmth but truly well balanced considering the strength. Rich and full bodied and cloying but in a good way! Truly magnificent beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wish someone would brew this beer for me every birthday as it is a stunner. Rich and rounded with a bit of syrupy goodness that is to expected at this alc content.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours light, translucent brown. Taste is the top of creme brûlée - burnt sugar. The alcohol is completely hidden. This is a good one.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A 750ml corked and caged bottle. 2014 vintage with a best before date of 29th April 2024. Poured into a Chimay goblet. The beer poured a dark brown colour with a slightly less than one finger tan head which quickly settles to a nice thin creamy layer leaving spotty lacing. Strong aromas of caramel and toffee, also lots of dark fruits, plum, raisin, prunes, dates, fig with hints of butter. Taste is on the sweet side with dark fruits dominating especially plum, raisin, fig and prunes. Caramel and toffee are in the background and hints of banana and bubblegum sweetness at the finish. Smooth and creamy, light warmness, medium bodied, light carbonation. Overall a very good beer that is a must buy for me. Even at 11%, you don’t taste the alcohol. Great for a late night sipper. I’m going to age a few bottles and see what happens!

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fresh yeast aroma upon opening the bottle. Weak in the glass though. Powerful sweet and alcoholic taste. Feels like caramel and sticks to the mouth. A rich heavy brew prefect for a cold winter night. Creamy mouthfeel.
